I had also asked a physist (perhaps you are one too) about this and I thought you might like to read his reply. Here it is. " Transmutation is the changing of one nucleus into another by a change of the number of protons in the nucleus. Usually this requires substantial energy from outside the organism such as from intense radiation. An exception is radioactive decay where a nucleus spontaneously changes, but generally an organism doesn't have radioactive materials in it " .
