My grandmother told me she was raised on Eagle Brand milk. I'm sorry, I can't help you with the formula question (I know there are others here that have used it), except to say that the line about it being dangerous is likely mostly industry-manufactured propaganda. Same source that tells us raw milk is a hazard, and that their fortified, fake, plastic foods are what is healthy. If you have a clean source of ingredients, keep them clean, and don't leave things out which would result in deficiencies, IMO it's far safer than the powdered garbage they put in cans. I'm feeding my son (who is not a baby, but is tube fed) a mixture of hamburger, liver, coconut oil, kefir, kale, fruit, rice and a couple of other things. He is doing SOO much better than on the canned formula (which isn't much different from the baby formula: canola oil, karo, soy powder, and some vitamins). It is all cooked though, for better or worse. I feel better about it with the kefir -- same if you are using raw ingredients -- the ingredients for baby food are such a good medium for bacteria to grow that I think it's a good idea to populate it with some good bacteria to start out with. At any rate, she is almost 11 months old now and the picture of health. She has done very well on it. We used raw cow milk, but we will be switching to goat milk soon as it will be our only source of milk at this time. I don't know why you were told it is dangerous to use homemade formula...we haven't had any problem, and her doctor thinks she looks great! Hope this helps.
