I don't really have a favorite anymore. I live in Spanish Harlem, just

about the only part of Manhattan where the rents are still

quasi-affordable, and there's a fellow who parks his truck up the block

from me on Fridays and Saturdays and sells fish frozen on the boat at

pretty good prices. I probably buy from him most often, but when I need

fresh most often I'll try Fairway, which is more expensive but still

cheaper than other places and generally has decent fish, or even

occasionally Citarella, which used to be outstanding but now is mainly just

outrageously expensive. I've been meaning to try the Union Square fish

market, but I never seem to get there early enough.

Yup, you have to get there before 10 am to get the best stuff. They are good,

though, and all the fish is from their boat in Long Island Sound (local...not

sure about the pollution, though).
