Guest guest
I've been on this list for a couple of months now, and have seen a lot of discussion about diets heavily weighted toward animal products. I am wondering what the rational is for this, and what people would consider a good ratio of animal to non-animal foods (i.e., meat/fish/poultry/eggs to starches(grains, potatoes) to vegetables). I my diet has varied at different times during my life from 90% animal products, to a 9 month period of lacto-ovo diet, to a non-red-meat based diet that is about 15-25% animal products (fish, poultry, whole-raw-dairy). It seems that a diet heavily weighted toward animal products is probably not optimal for most people, nor is a strictly vetitarian diet. Certainly more protien is needed for those who are very active (easiest through more animal products). Can anyone suggest a good balance between these types of foods? It probably depends on age-range and activity levels (generally people are more active when young and they are still actively growing). Thanks, Craig __________________________________________________
