Guest guest
Hi Everyone, My husband is diabetic and suffering from severe night time leg cramps. His blood sugar is under control via the drug route. I can't get him to do much about controling his diabetes with diet. I even got Dr. Bernstein's book on diabetes for him to read. He read it, but decided he could not change his diet that much. You can lead a horse to water, etc, etc. I have been looking into giving him more magnesium. What I can't figure out is how important it really is to keep the cal/mag in balance. Is it safe to increase his magnesium and not the calcium? He is already getting 4 tabs a day equaling 1 gr cal and 500 mg mag, (NOW brand). According to Krispin Sullivan his magnesium level should be increased to over 1000 mg a day. I have read a lot about what causes leg cramps and some of it is very scary stuff. If any of you understand the balancing of these two minerals I would appreciate any help to end this painful problem. Thanks, Sheila
