Guest guest
Someone sent me this recipe and it was just so easy I had to try it. Really came out nice. It is a lot more filling than pancakes, and also, for me anyway, easier. I made them pretty big (about 8 " ) and made them into a little roll. They are kind of like the " Chinese pancakes " my Mom used to make (which were I think just crepes, I don't know why they were called that). We had them for breakfast with canned fruit and syrup, I'm sure you can come up with something healthier for the middle. Dosas 2 cups sorghum flour 1 cup kefir enough water to make a thick paste Let mix stand at room temp overnight or longer. Add 2-3 eggs, a bit of salt, and a bit of sweetener if you want. I made it pourable, like buttermilk, and cooked it on my Villaware electric tortilla press (which makes great crepes). It came out like a thick crepe. You can also cook it in a frying pan or griddle -- however you normally do pancakes. Traditionally these are served with curry. I ate mine with butter, my daughter had hers with a little powdered sugar and maple syrup. It comes out something like a cross between a pancake and a crepe, but more substantial and good for wrapping stuff in. My daughter's take on it was " don't make regular pancakes any more: make these! " . -- Heidi
