On the other hand, how many people here actually obtain their butter--

which, by the way, is only about 80% fat--legally?

Do you remember where you saw the poll? It's not that I can't believe that

36% of the people in this country would be foolish enough to support such a

tax, but political organizations do have a habit of designing and

conducting their polls in such a way as to bias the results in their favor.

On a tangentially related note, I'd like to plug Stossel's upcoming

report on the War on Drugs, which will air this Tuesday on ABC at 10:00 PM.

This should give you a pretty good idea of what the War on Fat will look

like thirty years from now if all goes according to plan.

Here in California we can now get raw butter legally! Up until recently it

was contraband!

In a weird forshadowing, about a year and a half ago, when state certified

raw milk was available, it was still not legal in LA county and law

enforcement actually raided health food stores confiscating raw milk. This

would be hysterically funny if it were not so scary. That whole event

triggered a major protest and lobby by the raw foodists and certified raw

milk is now legally sold in LA. Whew!

We can hope, though, that the current nascent reversal in public opinion

about fat will continue to grow and topple the low-fat doctrine.
