Guest guest
Go for it Robyn! IF it looks like you are being led into a " joke " scenario you can turn the tables and make them look like fools. I think it is a good opportunity to inform people and gain some notoriaty in your city. Perhaps your friends are a bit jealous so they are taking the fun out of it for you. Give'em hell and let me know how it goes. lee Robyn wrote: > From: Robyn <dwarfmodel@...> > > Hi everyone! > My name is Robyn and I'm a 17 year-old with > Diastrophic Dysplasia, and I've been a member of LPA > since I was 13. Guest guest
Hi Robyn, I think it's great that you have responded to the station in this way, and that they appear to want to make amends. I have read about other members of LPA and their experience " converting " jerky DJs. It's seems to be a worthwhile mission! I certainly understand your concern, however. Here are a few things I would recommend: *Call someone at the radio station, the station manager perhaps, and voice your concerns. I'm hoping you will be reassured by his/her response. *You didn't mention it in your e-mail, but make sure they know how old you are. You sound very mature for your age, but they should know they are dealing with a minor. *Have someone accompany you (a parent, etc.) to the station on at least your first visit . *This last one is more personal preference than anything. But if I were you, I would ask the radio station/DJ to include at least your first name in the promo title. I don't think there's anything wrong with using the word " dwarf " in the title but I think the title of Honorary Dwarf or Ask a Dwarf alone sounds a little de-humanizing (I'll probably get in trouble for saying that). Just my personal opinion. Thanks for your hard work! Good luck with it and let me know what happens! Guest guest
Robin, this is the mom of the Hoggan Clan, here in Utah. Our Mandy, who is almost 19 now, has not only been on the radio, but also the television. When she was younger she was the Easter Seals childs for a year and a half, and the State Forestry Child for people with diabilities and/or different than the rest of the world. She was a spokesperson for people with differences at the state capitol for several years, and it was quite the growing monets in our lifes. They were all fantastic and awesome experiences! As Mandy has said for years, " It doesnt matter if someone is short or tall, fluffy around or too thin, cant speak, or hear, or they are quiet or noisey, it's what is inside their mind and heart that counts! " Our family says to 'go for it' but do NOT let anyone put you down! If something derogatory comes across the phone lines, or there in the office, just kindly tell them that they are misinformed or whatever suits your fancy. hehe Too bad we cant have friends, Casey, , Butch, Fred, Marg, Ruth, or some of those other fun ones with you. That would liven up the radio show! bwhahahaha Have fun, and go for the gold! Warmly, The Hoggan Clan in Utah ................................................... Guest guest
Robyn, Congratulations!! Go into the show to have fun. If you educate it will come naturally. Don't have too rigid an agenda. I'm sure if you listen to the show a lot then you know these folks do poke fun. So, be prepared to roll with the punches but throw a few of your own...in fun. Cara is right though...check out the station first. Maybe go early...you'll probably get the jitters. Remember--YOU'LL BE LIVE AND THOUSANDS WILL BE LISTENING!!! Scared yet? :-) So, if you do screw up, don't worry about it. It's a great learning experience. Just think, if you like it there's a couple of women on this listserve that are making it big in comedy and acting. Your friend is probably a bit jealous, maybe invite her to go with you? Unless she's not that good of a friend? Anyway, I'd take her with a grain of salt. This may be your 15 minutes of fame. Karin
Guest guest
Robyn: The radio show sounds interesting. I do listen to them and call in from time to time. I'm agreement with checking out the station too before you do it. If you get someone(s) who is ignorant you can just explain to them in a polite manner that people like yourself are proud to be who they are and are just like everyone else. Good luck and " give them something to talk about. " :-) Helen
Guest guest
Good for you Robyn! I don't know if I'm too late, but I definitely think that you should do it. I've made it one of my life missions to educate the public about little people. I am an SED dwarf myself and I'm married to a diastropic. Even if your friend has a point about the potential for the DJs to use this to try to poke fun at dwarfs, I think it's worth the risk. Even if they try it, don't allow them to get you flustered. Show a lot of dignity and that will take the " fun " of it for them but still allow you to get your message across. On the other hand, don't be afraid to laugh at yourself either. A lot of educating can be done while people are laughing. When my husband, , and I go do public speaking events, we always use humor in our presentations. It allows our audiences to see us as human and just like them, which is really the point anyway, right?! You are also right in that, sure, a lot of people get on the radio but how many of them get the chance to educate others on the radio about a cause they believe in. I admire your willingness to do this. Good luck! Guest guest
Hi, I have tried to search for this interview but have given it up since it's been impossible for me to find it anywhere at the site. I looked for it here : www.naturalsolutionsradio.com/media/RadioShowArchive2.htm but I only found two other older interviews with Saul Pressman, not the one from this last Saturday. Could you provide me with the exact address for where it's located? Dr. Eliezer Ben-ph wrote: >I just want to say thank you to Dr. Pressman for a great radio interview. Guest guest
>> how many commercials do you have to go through to get to the interview? << Dear Todd, Six. But try this. Go to the web page -- http://www.naturalsolutionsradio.com/media/092703Pressman.htm -- and get the streaming audio program started, just like you did before. Then while Dr. Eleazar Ben-ph is launching into his commercials, go to the toolbar that controls the audio -- it's easy to find, there's practically nothing else on the page -- and at the right-hand end of the toolbar you'll find a volume control. Use it to turn the audio volume completely down -- so you don't hear it at all. Then drag that browser window aside or leave it where it is and go on with other things for a half-hour or so, letting the program run its course silently in the background while you read other mail, browse websites, do research or whatever you normally do on your computer. Then, when the Natural Solutions Radio streaming audio program has run its course, pull it back into the middle of your screen (or pull whatever is on top of it aside), and you'll have complete control of the program via the slide control that runs the length of the toolbar. Don't like the commercials? Advance the slide control to the beginning of the interview. Don't wanna hear the other commercials that are sprinkled periodically throughout the program? Use the slide control. Eleazar and Saul do a good job bouncing off each other promoting naturopathic healing to a relatively uninformed audience. I'm sure the program was effective to draw public attention to the benefits of naturopathy and to channel people into position to learn more. I don't think it was geared for the more specialized and experienced audience represented by most of the members of this list. But it was good to feel the passion of the presenters and good to see the truth about medicine reaching the public. For me, it was a great treat to hear the voices of two of the people I've been following on mailing lists for years. And getting back to those commercials at the beginning of the program -- six of them squeezed into 7 1/2 minutes -- while I'm no particular fan of commencials, and really if the mainstream public had my values and sales resistance it would be a whole new world out there -- at least they were a cut above mainstream commercials and generally served good purposes. Best wishes, Green Re: Re: Radio show tried it. how many commercials do you have to go through to get to the interview.? :On Thu, 26 Feb 2004 14:18:27 -0000, you wrote: >>http://www.naturalsolutionsradio.com/media/092703Pressman.htm >> >>Try this link for Saul's interview. >> >>Dale >>

>> >>Dale >>

Guest guest
Darn it! I just heard the last 5 minutes! Guest guest
LOL...sorry about that. I wish I had some warning but I turned it on, and there it was! Of course, when I heard the subject matter I had to post here. I really like the host of the show, Dr. Carlie. From what I gather, she's completely legit and not trying to sell products. She fully entertains the probability these emerging plagues have been engineered via nano-technology, chemtrails, and vaccines. The Republic Broadcasting network used to have free access to their radio archives, but now they're charging a buck or something a month to access them. I imagine she'll be talking on this subject again soon. > > > > For those online there's an internet radio program on right now about Morgellans.
