since sally recommends coffee grinders to grind flax seed, whose

nutrients are just as delicate as wheat's, if not more so, i wouldn't

worry too much about that.

as far as efficiency goes, the coffee grinder takes a long time, but

is not too bad in a pinch. my processor couldn't get the wheat ground

finely enough on the first shot (i kept having to sift and re-grind)

and ended up taking longer.

Hi

I have ground wheat in a coffee grinder (takes a lot of refills, but makes a

nice flour) or in my VitaMix. Be SURE you sift your flour before you use it as

sometimes large pieces get through and they are hard on the teeth if cooked into

bread.

Also, a variation to make your wheat more tasty and nutritious is: Soak wheat

berries for 24 hours, put them in a damp bamboo basket or sprouting bag (and

keep it damp) for about 2 days, just until it begins to sprout. Pull that out

and dehydrate it. Then grind it into flour and sift. It is really not as big a

hassle as it sounds, and it makes a wonderful, rich flavor with many more

nutrients.

Enjoy! Kat

Subject: grinding wheat

I've been eating a 100% whole wheat sour dough bread from the store, but I

bought wheat berries for my first time today. I think I'll eat them just

boiled for now, but I'd like to make some flour as well-- one problem: I

don't have a mini-flour mill, nor money to buy one right now.

Does anyone know if it is acceptable/practical to use a coffee grinder or

food processor (I have access to each of those) rather than a mill, to grind

the wheat? I know the nutrients are delicate in wheat, but using such

doesn't seem by intuition that it would have a negative effect. But Sally

doesn't say anywhere in NT that it is ok to use them if you don't have a

flour mill.

Thanks for any help,

Chris

" What can one say of a soul, of a heart, filled with compassion? It is a

heart which burns with love for every creature: for human beings, birds, and

animals, for serpents and for demons. The thought of them and the sight of

them make the tears of the saint flow. And this immense and intense

compassion, which flows from the heart of the saints, makes them unable to

bear the sight of the smallest, most insignificant wound in any creature.

Thus they pray ceaselessly, with tears, even for animals, for enemies of the

truth, and for those who do them wrong. "
