Guest guest
OK, i know we discussed this a while back, but i don't recall any biochemical explanation of it. i DO recall that udo writes about how some unsaturates actually *increase* metabolism and would like to establish once and for all which is correct. perhaps his track record for accuracy isn't great (but then the WAPF has some erroneous or misleading info as well...), so if anyone understands the biochemical process involved, *please* speak up he writes: " Our body burns EFAs for energy only when an *excess* of them is present. They stimulate metabolism, increase metabolic rate and oxidation, and speed up the rate at which our body burns fats and glucose when it gets more than 12 to 15% of total calories as EFAs. In these quantities (upwards of 3 tablespoons per day), EFAs help burn-off excess fats, and help a person to lose weight and stay slim. " (p.171) does anyone know if this is correct or not? can anyone offer an explanation of HOW EFAs *depress* or *increase* metabolism? Guest guest
Suze- According to Dr. Ray Peat and some others, excess PUFAs poison the mitochondria. >OK, i know we discussed this a while back, but i don't recall any >biochemical explanation of it. i DO recall that udo writes about how some >unsaturates actually *increase* metabolism and would like to establish once >and for all which is correct. perhaps his track record for accuracy isn't >great (but then the WAPF has some erroneous or misleading info as well...), >so if anyone understands the biochemical process involved, *please* speak up -

Perhaps, you can find an answer to that at Ray Peat's site, http://www.efn.org/~raypeat/ Roman
