Hi,

Does Kombucha taste like beer? I don't like beer. If

not, what does it taste like? I don't want to order

it and find out that I don't like it.

It tastes sort of like apple cider but different.

---->it didn't taste like beer to me. it tasted similar to apple cider, as

Irene mentioned, but not exactly the same. it was a little sweet and had a

kick to it.

Kombucha has a sweet, almost fruit like flavor if fermented for just 7 days,

after that it get more tart.

It is not recommended that you drink more than 4 ounces per day, and you might

want to start with much less than that.

Kombucha doesn't taste at all like beer, I don't really like beer either but

I love the taste of Kombucha. If you start making it you can try out

different variations to the recipe to customize the taste you a certain

degree.

Has anyone tried the bottled kombucha from www.kombucha2000.com? (They

advertise in Wise Traditions.) Does bottled kombucha have the same

benefits as making it yourself?

I'm interested in trying it, but not ready to make it myself. First I

want to get comfortable making kefir (my grains arrived today!). Then,

organ meats. Then, sauerkraut and raw meats. So many things to learn!!

Hi ,

I don't know much about store bought Kombucha except that you will be paying a

lot for very little.

I paid $5.00 for my Kombucha mushroom, and it has made me I don't know how many

gallons, and I have been able to share the baby Kombucha with friends.

Making Kombucha is the easiest to make of all these fermented foods. Boil

water, add sugar and tea, let it cool, add your Kombucha mushroom, let it sit

7-10 days. That really is all there is to it.

So, if you are really interested, just by your mushroom and give it a try!

How can you get something of value out of tea and sugar and a mushroom? I

know, I should go check out NT.

How does it work of you add herbs to the tea?

Hi Kris,

I make it as it is recommended, no added herbs that might change the chemical

composition of the final tea.

NT has a section on Kombucha. It tells the story of an area in Russia that was

affected by nuclear toxins from the nuclear power plant. In all the surrounding

areas the rate of cancer was quite high, but in this one area it remained low.

This village drank Kombucha, and this could be why.

Sally even state that the book advocates staying away from sugar and caffeine

products, but that the Kombucha is an exception.

By the way, if you let your Kombucha ferment for the full 10 days all the sugar

will have been fermented. It is a bit tart this way, but I REALLY like the

taste of the 7 day Kombucha and at one point got into a bad habit of drinking

too much, so I always go the full 10 + days now.

Also, the longer it ferments the less alcohol and the more vinegary it is.

Lots of people claim noticeable health benefits, but I haven't. I just take it

as a health tonic.

----Well we can't but the SCOBY can. SCOBY is the Kombucha world acronym

for Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast, these lovely little beasties

transform tea and sugar it to this wonderful drink that seems to be very

good for us,

---Traditionally Kombucha has none of that although many people tinker with

their recipe to adjust flavors etc, but it's just for flavor and isn't part

of the official brew, you have to be careful tinkering though so you don't

ruin the stuff, those yeast and bacteria really love their sugar and

tea--
