Guest guest
Hi, Diedre on my natural horse trim list told me about this list, so here I am. I became a vegetarian about 10 yrs ago, tried vegan for a couple of months, then became a fishatarian about 5 yrs ago. 4 months ago, while researching info for my horse's pasture I came across NT. Needless to say I am no longer a fishatarian. I never became a vegetarian soley for my health, did it more because of my disgust of factory farming. Well NT still fits the bill. And my spiritual outlook has changed so I don't feel guilty about eating the animals. Interestingly, I never craved meat while a vegetarian. But now that I have started eating meat again, I really crave beef. I also crave the organic cultured butter I buy. Guess my body has been missing something it really needed. I feel much better since giving up the soy. I buy my kimchee, found a natural source with no MSG, sugar or salt. Also buy my kefir. Will try to make some of these things myself in the future. I did find a source of organic, pastured raw milk so I have made my own whey. Tried to make something out of the curd but it was yucky. I live in Southcentral Wisconsin (near Cambridge) and would love sources for unpasturized cream and pastured beef. The coop sells pastured chicken and lamb. I have never eaten lamb and not sure I can, but the chicken is good. Would eat vension if it weren't for the disease. Whole foods sells pastured beef but it is very expensive and even though that is not a big issue I would like to find a source for 1/4 or 1/2 of beef. Have a friend that will split with me. Regarding the coffee discussion. I gave up caffeine about 6 months ago. I would drink one strong cup a day and my body was very addicted to it. Went through terrible withdrawals once (body pain all over) when I inadvertanly gave it up for 3 days as I was fasting. So this time I cut down a little each day. I make dutch style coffee which you soak the ground coffee for about 24 hours and make a " concentrate " . This removes a great deal of the acid. So each day I used less and less concentrate and had no withdrawals. I do still make a decaffenated ( organic water process decaf) concentrate. Went without any coffee for about 2 months but really missed my morning ritual. So now I have a cup of decaf with heavy cream and stevia, ;-)). NT makes so much sense to me. I have learned over the years to listen to the still small voice and it is in agreement with this. Plus since I have been listening carefully to what my body wants to eat and only eating when I am hungry and only till I am no longer hungry I have lost 10 lbs. Pretty cool when you can eat whatever you want and lose weight. ;-) I also choose a natural diet for my " kids " . The horses are on pasture and get only a small amount of oats. My dog gets a raw meat diet of organic chicken, lamb and a few veggies. Glad to have found this group. I have already learned quite a bit reading the posts. Looking forward to learning more and finding others in the area. in Wisconsin
Guest guest
> In organic regular coffees the rule of thumb is the darker the > roast the lower the caffeine. Also, arabica coffee has less caffeine (supposedly half) than the cheapo robusta beans in supermarket coffee.
