kombucha acquisition

Hi,

I thought that a local store sold kombucha " mushrooms, but it turns out they

don't. NT lists Laurel Farms, GEM, and AF Kombucha for sources of Kombucha.

Does anyone have any experience or preference between these?

Also, more importantly, the recipe in NT says to add half cup of kombucha

from a previous batch. Um, so if I'm making the first batch, what do I do?

Can I just skip that part, or do I need to by ready-made kombucha from the

source listed?

GEM is the company I am most familiar with and have never heard a complaint.

As for adding a 1/2 cup from a previous batch, I would not worry about it. Your

Kombucha will come in the tea, and if it is not exactly 1/2 cup it will still

turn out just fine. I have given Kombucha babies to friends and barely had the

Kombucha wet because I did not want it to leak and they always turn out fine.
