Guest guest
Hi everyone, I'm wondering if any of you have any thoughts about dealing with the dioxin in animal fats. The research I've seen shows that the highest concentrations are in butter, cheese, beef.... all the stuff I love and makes me feel good. Dioxin is a fairly potent carcinogen that migrates to the fatty tissues and is fairly resistant to leaving the body. I had not thought of this until my husband brought it up...he does local air pollution work for the Seirra Club. One of the enviromental lawyers he works with is vegan because of doixin research for legal cases. It scared him enough to change his diet (although I think, like all the vegans I know, he looks rather sickly). He says dixion polluted areas are difficult to pinpoint becase it has a grasshopper effect. It's produced from a number of different sources - power plants, industry, landfill incineration, spills, etc. Then dioxin rises and falls as the earth is heated and cooled until it reaches the artic areas where cold air causes it to settle and concentrate. People living in these areas often have very high levels. I'd love to know others thoughts on this problem. The research I've looked at does not look good.
