It's more ecologically friendly (being reused many times) and

less reactive than plastic or paper cartons (which are lined with

plastic) - plastic leaches phthalates (estrogen mimics) into food

in contact with it, and I've read that plastic and fat have an affinity

for each other, being molecularly similar somehow, and

exchange molecules, leaving plastic in the fat (have you ever

noticed how much more difficult it is to wash fat off plastic than

off glass?). Plus, I think milk in glass tastes better. I don't know

if any of these are the reasons Claravale and Organic Pastures

use glass, but nonetheless, they're good reasons in my book.

I'm glad they use glass, I'd much rather deal with returning glass

bottles than throwing away or recycling the cartons.

BTW, if anyone wants to buy some cool glass milk bottles for

home use, if you buy from a farmer in gallons and want to

transfer it to something other than mason jars, I found these at

the Lehman's site - haven't ordered any yet, so I can't vouch for
