Guest guest
Hi Ed, I had my husband and my youngest daughter (14) take the test yesterday and although we all had different answers to the various questions, we all came out as the mixed type. Jeff balanced out smack dab in the middle with even numbers on the protein and carb side, but higher for the mixed group. I thought for sure before we started that he may come out higher on the protein side, but he surprised me. My daughter and I tend to have higher numbers towards the carbo side and very few numbers on the protein side, even less for me then her (only 3), but the highest amount was for the mixed. The results made me wonder, because we had been vegetarian to vegan for 10 years. It was hard for me to answer the questions about meats and fatty foods, as I've only reintroduced them back into our diet since March and I really haven't had much beef at all, mostly poultry. I have a quarter of beef coming by the end of summer. Therefore, I wondered if the results was giving a true picture for what my metabolic diet type should be? I suppose that is why you re-test periodically. I had to also stop and think about some of the other questions like nail thickness, pupil size, complexion, etc. and I thought of our heritage. My daughter of course would share that in common with me and my husband's family isn't to different from mine on our father's sides, we've almost wondered if we aren't distantly related at times (another story). Anyhow, it's good to know that the diet seems to be working for you. It'll also be easier for me in meal preparation knowing that at least 3 of us in the household is of the same type. I want to test my oldest daughter (16), when we can get some time and I'm not sure how to determine our little boys ages 5 and 6. My 21 y/o is hardly here, but he may be willing to take the test to find out his type. I see the book talks about the GI Index and even has carb recommendations for the protein type with proper preparation recommendations from NT. It also warns the carbo types about the over use of various starchy carbs. It really appears to me the book stresses balance in the proper ratios for one's type and at least doesn't demonize carbs like other diets do. I like the balanced approach and thus far the book makes so much sense to me. Be well, Robin <<I also got the Metabolic Typing book, and found that I'm the mixed type. So I'm adding more carbs to my WAP diet, and I'm finding that it seems to work for me, but it's too early to be sure yet. Ed>>

Robin, Keep in mind that though there are the broad groups of metabolic types (protein, mixed and carbo),in actuality all types are on a continuum (see page 257), so a mixed type might lean more towards the protein eend of the scale or more toward the carbo side. Chapter nine talks about fine tuning and gives a mini quiz to take 2-3 hours after a meal to give you feedback about how you did properly feeding your type at the last meal. It basically gives you a structured way to listen to your body. --
Guest guest
Hi Ed and , Our ancestors are all from Europe also. Therefore, our genetic type must lean more towards the mixed diet. <<My ancestors all came from Europe: >> I just reached page 127 this morning . My test shows I'm a mixed type, leaning more towards the carbo side. I'm just getting to the part about fine-tuning beyond the 12 steps. I can tell it's one of those books, that'll have to be reviewed often until I find the correct fuel mix for my body. Be well, Robin
