Galactocemia (in my ONE WEEK OLD BABY!)

Okay, my baby has tested positive for galactocemia. But there is a

chance...the test might be incorrect since it's heat sensitive (the

test might have heated up in the mail). We are going in to get tested

and we'll get the 'definite' results in two weeks. What should I do

until then? What will I do if she has galactocemia? What will I feed

her? Certainly not a soy formula (for obvious reasons), and certainly

not milk (I assume). Even organ meats contain galactose! How will I

feed my baby? What exactly does galactogemia imply, besides excluding

galactose containing foods? Thank you so very much for ANY help you

can offer!

Hi Sandy,

My heart goes out to you. There is nothing more frightening than a sick

infant who can't tell you where it hurts.

Here is a center that has all the information you need, including recipes

http://www.galactosemia.com.

And here is one for the parents http://www.galactosemia.org/

Good luck to you both,

Kat
