I agree with your concerns. I would not want her to move toward a

vegetarian diet but the NT diet and add coconut oil, coconut milk, and

coconut to her diet. Dr. Bruce Fife's book on coconut oil is very good.

I have been taking cranberry extract capsules in addition to drinking some

of the straight juice (not the cocktail, which is mostly sugar water). I

found that worked best for me, especially Solaray Cranactin, which says it

has " guaranteed bacterial antiadherence activity. " Also, drinking a lot of

water helped.

I have a friend who is experiencing recurring bladder infections. She has

tried both western (antibiotics and cranberry juice) as well as acupuncture

and some eastern medicine (special herbs), and neither is working.

Recently, she was told by a someone at a naturapathic pharmacy that she

needs to move towards a more vegetarian diet. I'm a bit concerned and

wondered if anyone has some advice I can give her.

Thanks,

Dawn

First question is are they really bladder infections? Are they confirmed

bacterial infections? If not you might have the same symptoms with a fungal

problem and then you procede as with a systemic candida infection. For a

bacterial bladder infection I have used some herbs that I get mailorder

from my herbalist who is now in Arizona. They always worked although it

took 10 days. If you want that info email me directly. If the bladder

infections are recurring then an underlying immune problem probably needs

to be addressed. When I addressed my candida problem my recurring bladder

infections went away.

You may wish to try using d-mannose. Dr. , a well-

known alternative MD, recommends it for bladder infections. He says

that it, in essence, coats the bacteria and makes them unable to

stick around and cause trouble. I have seen *overnight* responses

using it.

His site, http://www.tahoma-clinic.com/mannose.shtml, has a much

clearer explanation on d-mannose.

You might also want to look to molds in your diet, specifically grains,

rice, nuts.

If you eat nuts, they contain a lot of mold (that you can't see). Here is a

wonderful little trick that made it possible for me to eat nuts again:

I always soak them in 2 cups filtered water to 1/4 teaspoon citric acid

(vitamin C) crystals. Let sit a minimum of 5 minutes but you can leave them

for about 1 hour, then dehydrate or put in a warm stove to dry. They should

stay mold free for a couple of weeks.

Hope this helps,
