Guest guest
<< ---->Margaret, thanks for sharing your experience on this. do you use the *edible* diatamaecous earth or the kind made for gardens? i've heard of cats getting lung damage from the garden kind, i believe, as the tiny sharp particles were inhaled. >> Suze, It's the garden stuff but I would imagine inhaling edible or garden would still be damaging. Maybe it's back to spraying vinegar every where. I'll have to buy some junk vinegar from the grocery store instead of the vinegar I had been using which was some kefir d'aqua which had gone over the line -- looked like apple cider vinegar and tasted like it too. I eventually got tired of seeing dried droplets of brown and switched to the diatomaceous earth. That I keep in a bowl on the counter with a small wire strainer. I wait until a troop comes out for something good (their favorite is the raw meat cat food) and then I sprinkle a little over them and let them take off for home, hopefully taking some of the diatomaceous earth with them so it's not like I have it flying around much. I have a squeeze bottle that I use for the seams between the appliances and cupboards. Doing around the dishwasher really seemed to cut down on the traffic. If you come up with any workable strategies I'd certainly be interested in hearing about them. I rather think I'm stuck with them forever. I live in a townhouse without a basement and I think it must have been built on several different ant colonies. Margaret

Guest guest
Suze, If you go to the insecticide dept of the grocery store and look for the ant killer - that is typically boric acid in liquid form. You put a blob on a piece of cardboard and teh ants go for it.
