Guest guest
I don't have specific information, but for me pregnancy puts my eating habits and my responses to food under a microscope. I feel very intensely how food affects me, from the agony after a spaghetti dinner to the clear energy after a snack of meat or cheese. It is a very educational period for me that is teaching me a lot about my body and what kinds of foods work best for me. It is the same psychologically. I have talked to several midwives who say a pregnant woman can take care of what would take years of therapy in one pregnancy. This is especially true with women who suffered sexual abuse. Pregnancy is not always comfortable, but it's a miraculous time to do some mental and physical spring cleaning. Elaine

The symptom flare I got from some books on celiac: it is often diagnosed during or after pregnancy, when it flare up (as do a lot of autoimmune diseases, such as MS). I don't know if they actually documented this or it is anectdotal, but I read it a lot in various books about various diseases (and in talking to women that got pregnant). Your immune system is suppressed by pregnancy (which is well-documented) and your gut transit times slows down (also documented). > While I'm not pregnant now, I do hope to be >within a year. After I gave birth, my diarrhea returned and my general health declined totally. If you have digestive issues, it's better to figure them out before you get pregnant: for one thing, you want the best absorption you can get. Guest guest
I have had leaky gut in the past. I didn't have a flare up of symptoms especially when I was pregnant although I can't be sure what was pregnancy and what was my other problems. My food allergies actually got better while I was pregnant and did a weird flip. some things I couldn't eat before I tested not allergic or low allergicity and others I could always eat I tested allergic for the first time. I know another woman this happened to. I also continued to take enzymes during pregnancy and that helps leaky gut. I did have terrible heart burn and burping up and stuff toward the end but that is common because the baby is pressing up against the stomach. i was also very tired all the time but that is common in pregnancy as well.
