There's a lot of evidence that supports at least 3 years between children -- they have better social, cognitive and psychological development. I nursed my children for a long time, but unfortunately I always got my period and I suppose ovulation back fairly soon after they were born. At that time I wasn't eating low carb unfortunately. I did have a foreshadowing of later weight loss difficulties -- after my second was born I went down to 800 -1000 calories a day, figuring that that number of calories should cover the milk for her and should be sufficiently little to usher in great weight loss for me -- Oddly enough I didn't lose an ounce. My pediatrician just laughed and said that I was fightly an uphill battle against very powerful hormones that wanted to keep my fat stores for the baby instead. You just can't fight mother nature I guess.
