Dont be a shame to ask for help!!!

I broke my elbow in 4 places last May and when I went shopping I went to the

Manager and told him what happened and they got a stock clerk to help me

out.

Sometimes I go to the aisle where the brooms and mop handles are and 'borrow'

one so as to knock the item in my hands, or in my cart. If I remember, I

will bring my grabbers with me to the store, which many times I don't

remember though.

So, inquiring minds want to know. :-)

This won't go in the Inquirer now will it? lol :-)

I first try and get it myself. If that doesn't work I see if there is a

fellow shopper around. If not, then I grab a store clerk.

By the way it's not an odd question. :-)

Remember there is no such thing as a silly question.

I usually keep a step stool in my car that I take inside(I also use it at

gas stations). But a couple of times, I've forgotten to put it back in my

car and leave it in the bottom rack of the cart. Sometimes they make me

check it at the door when I bring it in the store.

Odd Question

From: SauceyKitty@...

Good Afternoon Everyone,

I had just an odd question to ask to any LP who can get me an answer...

When you are at a store(most likely a supermarket) and its later in the

evening and there aren't any people in the store, if you come up on an item

you can't reach on the top shelf...do you wait for someone to come, go over

to the check-out area and ask an employee for assistance, or do you climb

the shelves to go and get it yourself?

What would YOU do? :-)

If I think I can do it safely, you bet I climb! Even worse than grocery stores

are the warehouse-type hardware stores. You can wait half an hour at Payless

Cashways for " customer (lack of) assistance " and Home Depot isn't any great

shakes, either.

My question is, WHY is the thing I want always on the top shelf???? :-)

Seriously, these days climbing is less do-able (and less safe), so I try to

remember my grabbers, or I ask someone. Only once have I ever had a fellow

customer refuse to hand me something, and I suspect that she did not speak

English and didn't know what I wanted. Also, I am less likely to patronize

stores that have failed to impress me with their customer service. I go to

the stores where I know from past experience that I can find someone to help.

I have found that I am a little higher if I use the store's electric

scooter, and can reach some things from it that I couldn't reach otherwise.

Gosh, I love those scooters! Imagine - grocery shopping that doesn't wipe

you out for the whole day!

Er, I did that once, and the whole display began leaning towards me. It

wasn't a fixed display as I usually encounter:-)

Hey thanks everyone for your answers, looks like a lot of you want to be

comedians! The info was not personally for me, I just wanted to see how everyone

reacts to " un-reachable " situations.

And, Yes, I am an LP.

Thank you!

Hmm,

Now that I am in a wheelchair, the arms come off and I can use one of them

to poke

something off the shelf and catch it. A large pizza box works to help get stuff

in the frozen

food section, although store employees fail to see the ingenuity of it. When I

was mobil I used

to climb. I also have one of those reacher things that works fairly well.

I LOVED the person who said they take their own step stool, I think I will

try that.

My answer to this question is: That is why I had an average sized son. He

is 9 years old, and cannot reach everything, however, he is also the one who

scampers off to find a store employee to help with things we can't manage

between the 2 of us. Being a 9 year old boy, he has no qualms about

interrupting whatever task the store employee is busy with, and dragging

them over to " reach this for my mom please " .

Lyuda and I don't have a problem at the grocery store.

First, we look down the aisle for Vasquez (I speak Spanish too!). If

he's not there I just hop up on his burro and I can reach the top shelf.

If is helping another customer with a coffee selection, we just look

for the Pine Sol Lady. She's very helpful too.

Once in a while we don't have much luck with either so we just go round the

corner and ole Mr. Whipple is glad to assist, especially with the toliet

paper.

This may be a crazy question but I want to throw it out there. Does anyone

experience ringing in the ears and think that it might be associated with a

problem with the disks in the neck?? Obviously I ask because I have the ringing

and DDD so I'm wondering if the two have anything in common.

I have had ringing in the ears since my first C2-C7 fusion and it has driving me

insane since that time, so about 10 years or so.

Good grief.? Sorry to hear that.? I've had it for about a year and a half.? Some

days it either subsides or is so low that I forget.? Other days, it's like a

boom box.? Ten years is a long time...

You mentioned 'after' your fusion; did your ears not ring before that??
