Why is it that they're only available through a health care professional?

What's the difference between a SP vitamin C supplement, and another? Or

calcium? Or a multi-vitamin? Can't vitamin C only give you diarrhea at

worst?

-------->chris, i don't know. hopefully someone else can answer that. i only

know that there are some manufacturers that only distribute their products

to health care professionals, and the ones i'm usually after are very high

quality ones that fall under this category (like SP, Thorne and Scientific

Botanicals).

as to vit. c, i don't think the manufacturers i get my supps. from

distribute 'harmless' supps. like vit. C directly to the public, but

distribute more potent ones to health professionals. from my limited

experience, they distribute *their whole line* either to the public OR to

HCPs.

also, in regards to C, it has *the potential* to cause damage as a

pro-oxidant under certain conditions. but is probably far less of a worry

when you take the full compound vitamin C from a whole food, and not just

isolated ascorbic acid (because there's less c in whole food supplements as

a rule than there is in a concentrated synthetic or isolated ascorbic acid

supp).

SP has been choosing not to do retail distribution for their

entire 70 plus year existance. One reason is their attention to

labeling which any lay person familiar with the line can tell you is

like learning a new language. ie. what would you do with af betafood

or zypan or symplex M . In addition I feel it not so much keeps it

out of the hands of patients but instead keeps it out of the hands of

uneducated retailers who are used to exclusively selling synthetic

supplements. This brings me to the answer to your second question.

What's the difference. SP is the only company in North America that

produces supplements that are derived from food grown on their 70+

year old organic farms in Wisconsin. These are not synthetic

chemical fractions of nutrients like ascorbic acid (which is NOT

vitamin C) but instead when purchasing Cataplex C (SP's vitamin c)

you get vit c that is simply extracted from food. It will NOT give

you diharrea, it will NOT turn your urine day glo yellow, and you

will need to take far less of it because it is much more easily

absorbed. Possibly most importantly is that by not being a

fractionated synthetic chemical it will not cause imbalances that can

be associated with long term use of such products. And this holds

true for virtually the entire SP line including multivits, e, c,

calcium, etc...

I hope this helps. If you need more let me know.

Ps- Anyone who needs SP products, particularly if they are just for

basic items like c, multi, e, magnesium, calcium, etc... just email

me.

I am looking for good multi, vitamin c, calcium/magnesium, etc.

supplements. Are they terribly expensive though? I am going to cry

if they are. What is a person to do whose money is already stretched

by house payments, car payments, buying organic, raw, healthy food,

living life in general? My wallet can't stretch much further.

Peace and Love of Christ be with you,

Robin :)
