Guest guest
Hi Guys -- thought you might be interested in an up-date on the Big Sis .. . . To refresh the memories, she started the Combo in January, but was pulled off after five weeks because her system was crashing. Off she went to the hospital for a couple of transfusions -- scary in itself since that was how she got HCV in the first place -- her RBCs started coming back up, and she jumped back in there for her second go-round with the Combo. This time around she is still doing the three injections weekly, but the Rebetron has been decreased to two pills daily (instead of the recommended five). She is, of course, always exhausted, and bitches constantly about the amount of food she has to eat, and all the water. Blah blah blah, says I. Keep eating / keep drinking water! Her ALT has dropped to 20 (from 39 when she started the treatment in January); AST is down to 21 (from 46). She still sits squarely in an anemic condition, but that isn't surprising. Platelets are down to 145 from 275 in January. She continues to go in weekly for testing, since there remains a big concern about the RBCs dropping. Since she is a 3a, there's a good shot that it might actually work with her. Ohh -- she does continue to take the milk thistle, Liverite, and the handsful of other goodies. Gotta hedge all your bets, right? Thanks for putting up with me when I've been hysterical through all the medical emergencies. Thought I would pop out an up-dating note when I was fairly calm about things. Hugs to all, (the still scared . . but hopeful Little Sis)
