They tend to be moldy and they're extremely unbalanced in fatty acids, having far more omega 6 oils than omega 3. I say this as a peanut butter addict. Smuckers salted creamy peanut butter is heaven on earth as far as I'm concerned, though far too many jars are rancid. -

Other nut butters would do, would probably be better if you made them properly yourself.
Guest guest
The best peanut butter I have ever eaten is from Arrowhead Mills in Texas. I got it at a local health food store. Outstanding! It has a sweetness, which is most unusual. I would like to make some peanut butter using the soaking and drying methods in NT. I could even soak them in water, with a little vitamin C to get rid of the mold, as was suggested in an earlier post. I would want top notch peanuts and haven't found a source yet. Guest guest
the short answer to your question is ... none. Peanuts are not a nut the are a legume if I recall properly and should be treated as such. They are really quite poor for use as anything other than an ocassional treat. We make almond butter from NT which is essentially soaked and dehydrated almonds, coconut oil and salt and while I haven't eaten those treats with the cocoa that folks have been mentioning I am quite sure that both nutritionally and taste wise the NT almond butter would be far superior to any pnut butter experience as I have always loved pnut butter but I'd choose NT almond butter over any pnut butter anytime based on taste alone. Guest guest
I think Arrowhead Mills is really good, but my children didn't like it at all. Then we tried Marantha organic peanut butter and the went bananas over it. It is a little harder to find than Arrowhead Mills but definately worth it! It has a flavor that by far makes up for the no sugar added. They also make other nut butters. ----- Original Message ----- From: h2ocolor1937 Sent: Friday, September 20, 2002 10:28 PM Subject: Re: Peanut adn health The best peanut butter I have ever eaten is from Arrowhead Mills in Texas. Guest guest
Hi , You can make your own. Soak the peanuts in Vitamin C then grind them into peanut butter. No more mold! It won't help with the nutritional imbalance, but it really works with the mold. Oh, I could, but peanut butter really isn't a food I can eat anyway. Too starchy. I sure love a good jar of Smuckers, though. -

Guest guest
, 1 Tbsp of pure peanut butter (ground peanuts) has 1.5 gm carbs. I don't call that starchy. Guest guest
And lets not forget that peanuts are one of the most sprayed crops (ie pesticides, weedicides, etc).
