Guest guest
Hi all, Can anyone offer an opinion on this? I'm considering giving Primal Defense to my dog that has colitis. But it has a number of sprouts in the ingredients and I'm wondering if any of them contain any toxic compounds. Here's a list: " 100 mg PhytoSterol/Sterolin Blend from sprouts in their natural whole food form (low temperature flash freeze dried). Sprouts included are Wild African Potato, Oilseed Plant, Lupins, Fenugreek, Barley, Wheat, Soybean and African Sunflower. " http://www.risingstarlc.com/pddisc.htm#ingred Do soy *sprouts* contain the same toxic compounds that soy *beans* do? What about these other sprouts - is anyone familiar with them? Do they seem like OK things to eat regularly in moderate amounts? I know of a dog who's alive today ONLY because of PD, apparently. He is a GSD that has exocrine pancreatic deficiency and IBD and wasted away down to 20 lbs.(!) despite antibiotic therapy, dietary therapy and some other other therapies. Only PD restored his health. so, i've got a really powerful anecdote, yet i'm concerned about these sprouts because i'm not familiar with them and wonder if there's anything harmful in them? thanks for any help! Also would suggest that it would be wise to look at the whole picture as to what your dog is ingesting as balance is key here. If your dog has colitis would suggest getting " Holistic Guide for a Healthy Dog " by Volhard. That should help you find you way with this. Her work is based on tte Levy's. -- Warm Regards, Bethanne Elion Poultney, Vermont http://www.barkingbear.com
