Sounds like you've hit upon a good amount to consume. Pregnant women are advised against taking in more than 10,000 IU a day to be conservative -- although no real ill effects have been observed until chronic ingestion of 20,000 - 25, 000 IU or more. The RDA is woefully low for pregnant/lactating women -- only 1200 - 1300 or about 4200 IU. People forget that it is vitamin A deficiency that is problematic -- 250 million childrenin developing countries are at risk for too little vitamin A. Millions of children suffer all sorts of vision problems and blindness due to the lack of vitamin A.
