Nick,

For me Brightness has worked fine without using pause/play, running with Cyberlink Power DVD, Version 6.0.

Are you sure that you clicked on the "Control" button on the DVD Player object to switch in the feedback contingency?

Larry

DVD

Is it possible to use the DVD Brightness reward without also enabling the pause/play reward? I'd like to keep the DVD picture (and sound) moving and use only the Brightness as a reward. No success with DVD Power Plus 4, Windows Media Player or Interactual.

To and Larry:

Thanks. I did press the Control Button in the Instruments Window -- no luck. I guess I'll spring for PowerDVD-6. Larry <llewis@...> wrote:

Maybe someone can help me with the DVD. I can not get the second screen to function. I have installed the AGP/Vga, I have PowerDVD 6. All cables attached . I have followed Microsoft instructions. All to no avail. Before I pay some techie to come to my office and humiliate me, I thought one of you may have some suggestions as to something I have overlooked. Thanks

Nick,

I use the brightness control frequently. I generally also include

volume changes too.

You can just connect the brightness and volume inputs into the DVD

object and leave enable disconnected.

I set the range for brightness and volume to abut 45 and 100. that

way the picture gets very dim and the sound is very quiet but the

client can still (barely) hear and see what is happening,. This has

allowed me to use lower percent reward rates. The change in volume and

brightness is easil;y noticed and seems to be effective feedback and is

much less annoying/disruptive than play/pause.

I recently purchased WinDVD 6. The other DVD software I had installed

(interactual and older versions of WinDVD and PowerDVD) did not support

the brightness controls.

Nick~

This sort of thing started to happen when I upgraded BE last year. BE got too advanced for my computer and it really acted up when I played videos or DVDs. It would freeze so I had push the off button and reboot. How old is your computer? I had to get a new one.

After not using it for a while I'm trying to get back to using a DVD as reward. Everything works fine when I set it up in Playback mode for testing etc. but when I try to run a real session in Capture, the DVD starts/pauses/stops etc through the BioExplorer Control button on the bottom menu but the session does not record when I hit PLAY button --- the timer never starts. What's going on?

: My computer is a 2 yr. old Gateway laptop. It has a Pentium 4 and also upgraded RAM to 768 MB, Power DVD -- I should be OK. Besides it worked before with the upgraded BE. The DVD starts first through the CONTROL button on the bottom MENU so I know that BE is controlling the DVD but when I hit the green RECORD button, the RECORD SESSIONS page comes up, I type in the filename, then SAVE, and the NOTES page comes up, I hit OK and the timer doesn't start as it should. All this worked before so I'm befuddled why it doesn't anymore. nick Duncan <karenduncan@...> wrote: Nick~ This sort of thing started to happen when I upgraded BE last year. Nick,

I assume that the software works fine for capture of sessions the Video

player?

Do you have integrated or dedicated video? Playback of a session is

not as demanding on the system in general as capturing a session is.

Make sure you have the latest version of DirectX. The newest versions

of BE require it.

Power DVD should work well. I have the version just prior to the

newest release (I forget the version #) and it works fine.

Other DVD playback software has been a problem for me and for others,

The software that manufacturers put on their computers can interfere

(Dell media experience has been a problem for some, the software that

HP installed messed up my laptop). The InterActual DVD player that

some dvds attempt to install caused problems on other versions of BE

not sure if it does now.

Thank you, : Well, I downloaded the latest version of DirectX -- no improvement and I can tell you that the videos play OK in Capture mode. But you will have to educate me about the difference between dedicated and integrated video -- or better how can I determine what I have on my laptop. I think I will redownload BE and see if that works. nick <gmartin@...> wrote: Nick,I assume that the software works fine for capture of sessions the Video player?Do you have integrated or dedicated video? I hate to use this forum AGAIN, but, Dr Laibow has never responded to

anything I have sent her at natural solutions.

I sent all my info as you requested, I never received ANYTHING. I know

you said I fell thru the cracks, but how many cracks are there in your

organization. I would like my money back. I no longer wish to get the

DVD. You have stolen my money, and ignored my requests for the product

or money back. Please, anyone on this list, DO NOT order the Nutricide

DVD. I am thinking she is more scam than anything.

There are also some excellent alternatives to PacMan.  The NeuroPuzzles for $150 give you hundreds of puzzles that fill in as you score points, moving to higher and higher levels (more pieces per puzzle) as you advance, with good sound and good graphics and the ability to create a folder for each client into which you can put any JPEG images which will then become the puzzles.  I've used it with kids and adults bringing in pictures of their pets or vacations, and it's a very smooth system.  The BioPlay games (5 for $200 or 10 for $375) also run in Flash Player, but they have the element of interactivity.  The client can play real PacMan, with ghosts etc., and control what direction PacMan goes using the arrow keys, or play Space Invaders.  These are more arcade-style games with high-point scores, etc.

As far as using pacman or any of the " games " that are provided for BE I don't use any of them. Trying to compete with Wii and XBox and all the other gaming systems is not my cup of tea. When a chiild is use to looking at the graphics on a Nintendo DS and then they turn to " PacMan " just how long do you think they will stay interested? NOT!!!

So as I said - I only train audio and I have a very good success rate.
