Will do. My parents lived in Florida - hurricane central - for 17 years so I

know how it is to worry about them when the power goes out. Of course, being

without power in the ice and snow is a heck of a lot different than in a

warm climate, but with older folk it's just as dangerous when it affects

their ability to eat.

Is there anything worse than a parent losing a child. As a mother I

cannot even imagine. I feel absolutley terrible for them. My thoughts

and prayers are with them.

Oh my God...that is SO sad! Being a mother of 2 small children, I can

not imagine how devastated they must be right now. My heart goes out

to them...

RN: This is my 2nd post...I don't see that my first showed up

anywhere. Anyway....first off...no need to aplogize...although it is

a forum for weight loss...it's my understanding that its goal is to

serve as a support group of sorts....so no need to apologize - we're

here to support you.

Words cannot express the sorrow I feel at reading your msg. My

parents lost their only grandchild 3 1/2 yrs ago. To say it was

traumatic for us all is a bit of an understatement. For your

friends...I would just say...the overwhelming loss and pain they are

feeling now will seem insurmountable....but I can tell you...that

although the pain never goes away completely...with the passing of

time....the pain does become less consuming. Time does provide some

healing....and the pain will become manageable. It will be a long

road...but there will come the time when they are able to enjoy things

in life again....but for now...only sorrow....because the idea of

enjoying themselves will probably seem wrong. It will take time and

tears.

As their friend...I know how difficult it is to watch someone you love

suffer. I can also tell you - never underestimate the value of a

shoulder to cry on (or with), a listening ear and just a safe place to

revisit memories and cry without the fear of someone telling you it

will be ok...when you know otherwise. My heart goes out to you....but

from reading your many posts....I have no doubt you will be a great

encouragement and support to them. And if you ever need to talk or

vent...email me direct at chrisavro@... and I'll give you my

phone number so you can call (if you like).

My heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with them....as this will be a

slow and painful road. Unfortunately there's no shortcut for grieving.
