Guest guest
Hi, ! My son had this, too. It turned into pneumonia, and he was put on Zithromax. Then I got it, and was also put on Zithromax. My son missed two weeks of school, and was still off and on last week. I had a wedding to go to, and was getting worse, so I got the anti-biotics. I am not a big fan, especially because of the yeast overgrowth issues, but the drugs did work. We both still have an occasional cough (seems like really bad post-nasal drip). I didn't get pneumonia, but did get bronchitis. My son did the throwing up, or dry heaves, thing. I did not. School Nurse The school nurse where my sons go to school is getting on my nerves, she is nicey nice, but my son has been out with a cough that goes til he vomits. It has been going on for two weeks and has missed a week of school. The doctors say it is " due to his reactive airway disease of allergic in nature " and wrote it down for me for her to stop bugging me. She keeps insisting everytime the kids have some kind of cough it is pertussus because " we are a little different and don't immunize " is what she said. She is getting on my nerves....I got this note from the doctor just to shut her up and I called her to tell her also.. Just venting.... Anyone know what to do for this terrible cough? Anyone had this in their kids? It is going around here in this area I heard. Petric Western NY

Guest guest
.... and the school nurse probably increases her income by part of those $65!!! texas has a religious exemption and there was a court case a few years ago where the parents won. it was about a school insisting the parents had to belong to a church before filing a religious exemption and the parents fought that - and won! do a search on the internet and you will find it i'm sure. i'd imagine that in the southern states you have to fight more for your rights than some of the other states, at least i had to in north carolina, compared to arizona, but texas does have a religious exemption and there is no need for you to buy a medical exemption. good luck! claudia --- mrsyates2002 <theyatesfamily2002@...> wrote: > The school nurse called me again this morning to > ask about my > daughter's shot records...See when I signed her up > for school they > gave me a folder with a bunch of paper work > inside...now everyone > knows that you have to have shot records to go with > all the > information that they give...So the first day of > school as usual we > were running a little late...my daughter was > starting > Kindergarten...and her class was already headed for > the breakfast > room...(well talk more about there lunch room > menues)...anyway, I > gave the folder to the teacher and with all the > information inside > the folder that she would need...SHOT RECORDS > TOO...and she told me > that she would keep an eye on the folder cause it > did have that in it > and I was running late and did not have the time to > wait for her to > copy her shot records...so I trusted this > teacher...I never should > have the SHOT RECORDS ARE GONE!!!! Guest guest
There's an easier way to do this in Texas. All you need to do is right up a religious exemption, and have it notarized (notarization is optional, but looks more official). In the state of Texas, NO ONE has the legal right to ask you what religion you belong to. You do not have to specify what religion you belong to, nor do you have to disclose your religion. All you have to do is provide documentation that you object based on religious grounds. End of story. You can visit the Texas Department of Health website for more information (don't have the link present, just search for their website on , and it will pop up, then search the site for exemption information). If the nurse tries to give you a hard time, I suggest informing her point blank she is infringing upon your rights, and your next phone call will be to a lawyer. Guest guest
That's just wonderful, Floyd! You should feel great to set her straight. This is precisely why we need to be vocal about this. The nurses, docs, etc., are so why not us? These are our children. Just because they have this blind need to check vaccines off the list of things to do doesn't mean the rest of the world agrees. Guest guest
That kind of thing drives me crazy! I would write a very polite Letter to the Editor of the local newspaper, and point out that this school 'forgot' to mention the available exemptions available in your state on thier sign in the office. I would mention in my letter that as a parent, it is still my decision to make, whether or not the school knows that or not. I would also politely add that schools shouldn't be able to blackmail you into medical decisions for your children. Guest guest
I wonder what the states would do if the incent program went away? What if they were no longer given money for each child that is fully vaccinated. I know that the money for each child is not a lot but multiple that times 100,000 or more depending on how big your state is.....that's a lot of money. Well....I guess they did not get their money from my kids!!! Yeh!!!!!!!!! andrea > > > > > > I just had a conversation with the school nurse regarding two new > > students. It was my first " real " encounter with a health care > > provider that was so adamant about vaccines. She was saying that I > > as an administrator must make sure the students don't come to > school > > without being properly vaxed. I told her that I WOULD NOT make any > > parent or child feel obligated to do such a thing and before she > took > > it any further to find out if there is an exemption and if so, > HONOR > > IT if not ENCOURAGE IT. I felt GREAT about my decision and our > talk > > but it just let me further know that people have no idea what the > > truth is about vaccines and would push them on anyone without > > knowledge. Lets keep spreading the word! > > >  > > > T.O.L Marketing > > > " Top of the Line " > > > Floyd Bronson > > > President > > > Office: 800-587-7975 > > > Cell:  732-433-3498 > > > Email:        mainevent3232@ > > > > Websites: www.marketamerica.com/mybuddy                            > > >  > > > Custom Web Design > > > Domain Names/Hosting > > > Commercials > > > Ecommerce > > > Text Marketing > > > Stationary/ng/Legal Document Preparation > > > Silk Screen/Embroidery > > > > > >
Guest guest
Hullo . Yes, I didnt say it would be EasY. And their job could potentially be compromised. But I would like to know if this school nurse has been required to give vaccines within the school, but am even more curious as to what exactly the school policy is? It should not be remiss to publish the risk of vaccines and the exemptions for that state. I knew a school nurse in my district who did loose her job, simple for touting a no vaccine sticker on one of her cars. She is fighting this dismissal, and it has been ongoing for the last 2 years. She wants her job back, as well as back pay, AND an apology from the board who fired her. Somebody snitched to them about her sticker. She was questioned at a meeting for her views, and promptly let go. She has a pretty good lawyer, but it is going slow. Ethically, a school should have no oppinion of the personal choices of its employees, aside from the position, as long as she does her job. If it includes giving vaccines within the school, and she refuses, then I can understand. Shouldn't have taken that job with those expectations or demands, even if it has become a change of heart, after the facts. But giving vaccines in the school system should never MIX! Giving parents and students full disclosure and exemption info SHOULD NEVER be a crime, or a firable offense. More doctors should be doing this too. Informed Consent. Guest guest
Being paranoid is fun isn't it?! My god the number of people we have to try to mind read and predict their behaviour...gah.  I wouldn't think there would be any reason for your son to see the nurse if he is already having tests done elsewhere. This might raise some alarm bells for me if I were in the same situation - Your child isn't public property for god's sake. If your instinct is to keep him at home then I'd probably go with that if I were you.  Regrets suck, , better to never know what could have been than to wish what if...Best wishes, Darla   On 14 May 2010 18:49, McReynolds <canadacath@...> wrote:  HiDoes anyone else's child see a school nurse for height, weight vision and hearing screening? The school nurse wants to see my son and it makes me very nervous. My instinct is to say no and keep him at home that day. Am I being paranoid??? We already see the paediatrician every six months who monitors growth, we have had lots of hearing tests and sight tests so I'm not sure why it's necessary. Guest guest
Hi , I had to sign a consent form for my son to have a sight test but didn't, once I explained that it was because he is under the hospital they were fine. The school nurse is connected to my sons hospital consultant but I must admit I will not be telling her much about the bio-med as they just see things differently and look at our kids as being physiologically the same as your average child. Sorry to babble but hope it helps. Go with your gut feeling. Regards Stacey
