RUSSIA: " Vaccination Reduces Hepatitis B Rate in Russia "

Itar-Tass (07.14.08)

Hepatitis B incidence in Russia has fallen 20 percent since this time last year

as a result of mass vaccinations, according to health officials. Over 12 million

people were vaccinated against hepatitis B this year, participants said at a

Monday meeting with Gennady Onishchenko, the country's chief doctor. Despite

these efforts, the hepatitis B rate is significantly higher in the Altai,

Kemerovo, Amur, and Omsk regions.
