The attorneys NBC 38 spoke to say they can't believe this has happened to one of their own. Columbus attorney and former mayor, Bob Poydasheff, says he was in court yesterday when he heard that Dodelin ended his own life after a day long manhunt. Poydasheff says, " The lawyers I spoke to fell just as I do. It's a sad situation for everyone. " Police say when they tried to serve Dodelin a warrant in connection to the murder of 42-year-old Bullard, Dodelin fired gunshots then ran off into the woods behind his home, where he reportedly shot himself. Poydasheff says, " What we should be doing its to reach out to give condolences to both families. It's sad for the Dodelin family and it's sad for the Bullards. " Dodelin practiced law for more than 20 years. Fellow defense attorney Hagler worked with him. Hagler says, " I've known him for years as well as his father. We're all shocked that he could slip into this situation. " Hagler says he's one of the several friends who tried to reach out to Dodelin during yesterday's manhunt. He adds, " I was actually near the scene so I could try to establish personal contact with Ritchie. " Many of Dodelin's friends tell NBC 38 he had been troubled for some time, and dealing with marital and financial problems.
