Your story is not uncommon. I see a few things so let me bullet point them for you. 1) Kelp is not a good source of clean iodine. It has been show to be high in arsenic and other toxic halides so you may be doing more harm than good. 2) Iodoral & Lugols liquid are not sold at drug stores (well Lugols and be acquired at the pharmacy in rare cases). Iodoral can only be purchase online or through a medical professional. Our resources for it are www.breastcancerchoices.org (12.5 mg tablets) or www.illnessisoptional.com (12.5 and 50 mg tablets). You can read more about this product on www.optimox.com which is the research doctor's (Dr. Abraham) website. 3) I personally would not bother telling my Kaiser doctor about taking iodine. Many will belittle you and tell you that it is not necessary that it is in the food and you get enough from salt. Blah, blah, blah. You don't but they haven't taken the time to learn. 4) Levothyroxin is a T4 hormone only drug. Your body requires the full spectrum of hormones (T1, T2, T3 and T4 plus calcitonen) to function correctly. Buy supplying one hormone and expecting the body to come up with what it needs you are short circuiting the system. Drugs like Armour, Nature-throid and compounded T3/T4 drugs are better choices and most feel better when on them. Check out www.stopthethyroidmadness.com for more info on natural thyroid hormone replacement (this is rx by the way). I spent 6 years on Synthroid and felt like I was dying. I got on Armour 2 1/2 years ago and feel fabulous. I take 100 mgs of Iodoral as well. What you need is a good holistic doctor. Because you mentioned Kaiser I am guessing you are on the west coast. If you want to share where you live we may be able to suggest a good doc to help you.

Guest guest
Here are more from my Natural Thyroid hormone group: 1)Steve , in Lubbock2)Ron Manzanero in Austin (his NP/PA is taking new patients)3) Sessions in Kirbyville4) Launius in ville (This doc will prescribe Armour and will test the free's, but he seems to have no knowledge of low cortisol and the way it can affect labwork. He also "started" a patient on 3 grains--a no-no--and had no knowledge of multi-dosing. Told a patient to lower her 3 grains because labs were getting high--her cortisol is low. SO GO IN THERE KNOWLEDGEABLE. His fees are cheap, and he and his entire family take Armour)5)this looks promising:http://home.att.net/~drdaveharris/prolotherapy/thyroidcontrover.html, but he doesn't always take new thyroid patients.6)Dr. Elmore in Irving is looking quite good. UPDATE: Dr. Elmore is a keeper, says a patient on 1-07. Prescribes Armour and Cortef. Very laid back, easy going, spends more than enough time in a first appointment!7)Dr. lin and his NP in Austin are both looking good.8)Dr. Bessie Owens, DO, 1645 N. Town East Blvd #132, Mesquite, Texas 75150 972-613-7700Dr. Owens has experienced hypothyroidism and adrenal fatigue herself. She prefers Armour, listens to you, and appreciates your own knowledge. While she does treat Adrenal Fatigue (lists it on her website)...she might not jump right onto the HC bandwagon. She says she has had success raising cortisol levels in alternative ways. Clearly the patient is an active participant in the whole healing/medical process.]9) R. Kare M.D., 1410 W Jefferson, Waxahachie TX 75165, 972-937-1210He will do the testing that you request/require. Prescribes Armour andwill let you dose to your symptoms. He is not rigid in his treatments, listens, appreciates research. He will use homeopathic where he feels it will benefit. Guest guest
Yes I live in the Grand Rapids area. I don't think Dr. Brownstein will be taking new patients for a long time. He is expanding his interests into other things like writing books and newsletters. He is trying to balance his life. Unfortunately many need him but I understand what he is doing. He can't burn himself out either. Dr. Ng in his practice does iodine and is as good as Dr. B at it. Re: Hello >> >> >> >> Welcome Virginia. Your story is not uncommon. Guest guest
Hi , Virginia here again...I'm still trying to figure the format in which I answer and compose on here. Bear with me. Thank you for your response to my email. I am living in Livermore, California. It is in the East Bay Area. I am close to Pleasanton, Walnut Creek, Danville, Lafayette, . I hope that gives you something to work with. isn't considered East Bay, but it is the next town over going East toward Stockton and Sacramento. Thank you. Guest guest
Well it's good to know that Dr Ng is good. I may re-think trying again with him. I have two or three Drs closer to me to check out as well. Thank you! /MI Yes I live in the Grand Rapids area. Guest guest
Welcome to the group ...this is a great group of people who are compassionate and have wonderful ideas for us. I fairly new here and am grateful that I found such a group because of alot can attest to, I've had alot of questions of my own, which has been answered with no problem. Take care of yourself. Soft hugs sent your way. From: <avalon@...>Subject: Hellodominie Date: Tuesday, October 28, 2008, 12:25 AM Hello everyone, I'm new to the group and thought I'd pop in and introduce myself. My name is and I live in Canada. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, and Myofacial pain in 2004 after many years of suffering. I believe I've always had FM but it didn't come out in its present form until a car accident I had in 1998. Lots of pain, lots of depression and anxiety, and lots of fatigue sums it all up. I'm just coming out of a bad flare that started the beginning of October. The pain is just beginning to become manageable again. Yay. The car accident also damaged my neck so I have major pain in my upper back, neck, shoulders, and head when the flares hit. Thankfully I have an awesome family who tries their darnest to understand what I go through. My mom suffers from FM as well and was diagnosed a few months after I was. And I've met some really GREAT people on support groups I've found throughout the years. I just did all the polls here in the group and found them very interesting. Gentle hugs to all,
Guest guest
I have had no luck with applying coconut oil to my psoriasis. I eat huge quantities of coconut oil dily which is good for my health, but it hasn't seemed to help psoriasis. My psoriasis responds much better using tub soaks in epsom salts or gently wiping epsom salt solution on the psoriasis daily, before bed. Alobar On 11/15/08, jovyz <jovyz@...> wrote: > Hello to all. Guest guest
Just curious...have you tried tea tree oil on the psoriasis? I haven¹t and my mom hasn¹t¹, but I just recommended to her she might try that this week and see what happens. I had given my parents some tea tree oil for a different purpose and thought of that. I know it is great and fast for other skin things, so that is what made me think of it. Guest guest
Hi , Welcome! I am from Fairhope, Alabama and had my Nucleus Freedom CI surgery in September 2006 in Birmingham at St. 's Hospital. Dr. Grayson Rodgers was my surgeon. What type of law do you practice? I work in the legal field myself. I love my CI and have had very good success with it. Lynn Fairhope, AL Nucleus Freedom Surgery date 9/6/06 Activation date 9/27/06 Hello Hi Alice, thanks for the note and this looks like a grea list. I am a 47 year old lawyer in Birmingham, Alabama who was diagnosed with AIED. Over the course of years, it has progressively worsened my hearing to the point where I am about to undergo CI surgery. I should know the date in the coming days and it will be at the Shea Clinic in Memphis. I have worn hearing aids for only a few months and the deterioration was that quick, although I had some hearing problems going back 25 years or so. We are just waiting on a decision by the major medical carrier, Blue Cross, regarding either bilateral surgery or unilateral, followed by one more. I'll need the CIs on both sides. If anyone has any suggestion about doing both at one time vs. one and then the other, I would be grateful. This is a new world for me and its comforting to know such a group. Thanks and have a good week. Warmest thoughts Pugh
Guest guest
Hi , Your post really caught my eye. I started having trouble with my hearing in about July of 2006. I was diagnosed with AIED in November of 2006. Had perfect hearing before that. By mid January, I was completely deaf in both ears. And when I say deaf, I mean deaf. I could hear absolutely nothing. It was terrifying, to say the least. I am a court reporter and my hearing is basically my life. It was THE worst time in my life. I fell into a deep depression because I was so overwhelmed and so distraught and had no idea what I was going to do from here. The isolation and loneliness I felt was just indescribable. I felt so disconnected to the world. From having perfect hearing to complete silence in a matter of months, it was just devastating. BUT fast forward to today. I had simultaneous bilateral CI surgery on August 21st of last year, and was activated on September 12th. One of the greatest days in my life! I went from not even knowing what a cochlear implant WAS, to getting two at the same time! For the first few weeks, things sounded very strange to me. Everyone sounded like munchkins from the Wizard of Oz. But over the next few months, things started sounding how I remembered them. I can't even TELL you how excited I was! I call it a miracle. I really do. Well, just to let you know how fabulous these things work, I am now back to work as a court reporter! YES, a court reporter! The people who have to take down the testimony verbatim in court! So that right there tells you how well I'm hearing! It's just unbelevable how great these things work! Soooooo...the point to my whole post is, get your CI surgery! And get two at the same time if you can! My hearing went just like yours, pretty much the same in both ears, and pretty quickly. BUT there is hope! And you're going to be okay. If I can answer any questions for you or help you in any way, please let me know. > > Hi Alice, thanks for the note and this looks like a grea list. Guest guest
Welcome to the group, . If you have only recently lost your hearing, all of a sudden, you will probably get excellent results with the CI or CI's. There are lots of people here with one CI and quite a number now, with two. Some here have had CI's for 20 years and have been through the whole history of their respective manufacturer. If they are with Cochlear, their processors would have been upgraded over the years, so that they too, can enjoy the newest technology. Guest guest
Hi Lynn, thanks so much for the note and good to hear from you. I am with a firm that has several offices in the southeast and I practice mainly workers' compensation defense and Medicare law. Its the firm of Carr, , Pugh, etc. I am in Vestavia. Thanks for the update on your new CI and I am so ready to have this surgery done. I chose the Shea Clinic since I was treated there a couple of times in the past and had a good relationship with the doctor. I know of Dr. Grayson and he has a wonderful reputation. I think the other doctor in town that does this procedure is Dr. Pappas. Did you do your rehab in Birmingham? I assume you only have one CI now, but I plan to try to do both at one time so to avoid a second surgery. I'll keep you posted and should know today or tomorrow the exact date of the procedure. Wising you a good week and warmest thoughts, Ben **************You Rock! Guest guest
, thanks so much for the post and the good information. As a court reporter, you know all about having to hear to be able to work. I do trial work myself and have had the same emotional upheavel you experienced. Your words of encouragement are so uplifting, especially as I sit here waiting on a call from the surgeon. I want to get them both done at the same time, too. It would mean one less surgery and recover, plus I'll be back to the routine faster. I was like you, very funtional until just recently and then the bottom fell out. Same thing here about the CIs, I didn't know what it was (other than Whitestone had one) to now facing bilateral surgery in a matter of 6 months or less. Thanks again and please keep me posted on your progress; I'll do the same. Take care and have a good day. Ben **************You Rock!
