Guest guest
June, It is wonderful that untreated pain is now recognized as a health hazard. I'm curious about emergency room visits. I remember well when I broke my leg, they wouldn't give me anything for pain until the doctor saw me. X-ray was brutal. I couldn't understand why I couldn't have anything for so long. Yes, we had a wonderful Christmas thank you. I hope you and your family had a good one too. I had all 4 of my children here, my granddaughter. my parents, and brother and his family. Does it get any better? a ----- Original Message ----- From: JUNE <juner24@...> onelist < egroups> Sent: Tuesday, December 26, 2000 10:06 PM Subject: [ ] Easing the Pain > > Good article a. Guest guest
a, Treatment of pain should not be delayed because you are in the ER. If that should happen again, ask for the doctors standing order for pain medication - they all have them. If they don't, insist that they call the doctor and give you something for pain before xray. You have the right to refuse the xray until you see the doctor if they are difficult about it. Pat

Guest guest
, Nothing happened to me. We were discussing an article that I posted about new rules that apply to hospitals that they MUST treat pain. I was reminiscing when I broke my leg and how long I went before getting anything for pain. Hopefully these new rules will stop such needless suffering. a ----- Original Message ----- From: Valued Compaq Customer <ruf-caimi@...> < egroups> Sent: Thursday, December 28, 2000 8:01 PM Subject: Re: [ ] Easing the Pain > a, > I am very much behind. Guest guest
a, I just saw this. I agree they need to be quicker in helping people relieve their pain. I remember on Wednesday when I told the GI doctor my stomach hurt, he rolled his eyes. He has gotten his last paycheck from me. I am so glad you were just reminiscing.
