DETROIT -- There is a new twist to the fight between a Detroit mother and the state of Michigan over the care of her 13-year-old daughter.

ann Godboldo was involved in a standoff with police last month when she refused to release her daughter while in a dispute with Child Protective Services. Watch: 13-Year-Old Girl Being Held By State Tests Positive For STD Godboldo said the anti-psychotic medications prescribed for her daughter would do more harm than good and refused to administer them. She was arrested and has since been released from jail, but she is fighting in Family Court to regain custody of the girl. The girl was put in the Hawthorne Center in Northville, which provides psychiatric services for children. Her father, Mubarek Hakim, said a voice mail Tuesday informed him his daughter had tested positive for a sexually transmitted disease. He said he thinks his daughter was sexually assaulted sometime during her 11 days she's been at the center.

"Something happened, something there," Hakim said. He said his daughter is mentally challenged and not sexually active. "So, someone misused her, mishandled her. This is how this came about," he said. "Charges should be filed on the Hawthorne Medical Center. And, as far as I'm concerned, each individual who works on that ward or section should be tested." The family has filed a complaint and police report with the Michigan State Police. A representative for the state said the claims would be investigated.
