Dr Myhill Fundraising

Dear All, First of all thank you so much for continuing to show your support for Dr Myhill. I can vouch that the level of support receives on a daily basis really does make a difference and helps her, and those around her, to keep going. This current case has been going on for about a year now and it is incredible that the level of support has not tailed off. would not be keen at all, I suspect, in my sending this email. She has consistently refused to ask for financial support for her cause, though you will be aware that the costs are considerable and she does not have insurance for this kind of action as a result of past GMC (failed) cases against her which have rendered it impossible for her to obtain indemnity. However, I understand her view - many of her patients have been financially crippled by awful illnesses, mainly Chronic Fatigue Syndrome but also other conditions and these people are also in many case vulnerable emotionally as well as physically. To put extra pressure on her patients is something which absolutely does not want to do. So, if I am doing that to any of you, please accept my apologies. It is not my intention at all. Nevertheless I am emailing you for ideas and help. I have been thinking of trying to set up a fund-raising option on this group but don't know how to do it. Or do you think a more informal approach would be preferable and if so, how do you think I should proceed. Going through not for profit organisations on FB may not be the best option. I know some people have generously sent donations to , unsolicited, and she is extremely grateful for this. Maybe it is your view that this is the best way to proceed or maybe we could funnel money through a third party? I really am asking for ideas here. If the status quo is considered the best option I am more than happy for it to continue like that but on the other hand I do receive correspondence from people wanting to donate and I wondered if a slightly more formal set up would be better? Thanks for reading and good health to all Craig

In a nutshell Jim it is because of the way she treats ME/CFS .............it puts her at odds with the camp led by Professor Simon Wessely who want it to remain firmly in the realm of a psychiatric condition.

Dr Myhill is a very gutsy lady Jim, good luck to her, she will certainly need it when up against Wessely.

BTW Wessely would have you believe that those who suffer from Gulf War syndrome are psychiatric patients
