Killing Elderly With Drugs

The article below fails to mention that these are the same atypical drugs that

are mandated by TMAPS, which has been exposed as a fraud of our Medicare

dollars. It fails to mention all the side effects, or that the drugs cause

hallucinations, agitation, and delirium, etc... It also failed to mention that

the drugs are used as chemical restraints, which is also a destructive and

torturous process. Also not mentioned is the high costs of these drugs. These

drugs are chemical wars against our most vulnerable. Prisoners of war are

treated better than nursing home residents, in Texas and other states, who have

adopted TMAPS. Where are the lawsuits to hold the nursing homes and their

doctors accountable for pumping these deadly drugs into residents, even after

the manufacturer exposed the deadly side effects? What financial incentives does

the Alzheimer's Association have when the top officials help promote these

harmful drugs and deplete Medicare dollars of billions.

A study testing the drugs Zyprexa, Risperdal and Seroquel has found that

anti-psychotic drugs do not help most Alzheimer's patients with delusions and

aggression.

In addition to the finding, the study concluded that the risk of sudden death

and other side effects were not worth the benefits of the drugs for Alzheimer's

patients. The drugs carry a strong warning that they increase the risk of death

for elderly people with dementia-related psychotic symptoms, mainly because of

heart problems and pneumonia, and that they are not approved for such patients.

With little to no alternatives, it is estimated that an average of one-quarter

of nursing home patients and at least that many patients at home currently use

the drugs in the study.
