Hi all:

I too am getting unwanted posts whenever I send something to the listserv.

It just started today. I don't know if my emails are reaching everyone or

not so here is a post in case it didn't come through the first time.

I have to do a Power Point presentation for my Computers II class. We

could pick any topic so I decided to do mine on Dwarfism (I have to speak

for 10 minutes so why not educate a few people on it in the process).

Anyway I need some help with statistics.

A) How many different types of dwarfisms are there? Are there more than

100?

What is the average height of an adult with Dio?

C) On the LPA site is states that 1/100,000 births result in both Dio and

SED? Is that correct?

D) Does anyone know where I can get pictures of dwarfs on the net?

What sorts of posts are people getting that are unwanted? I'm curious,

because I am getting everything just like I always did...

Are these posts coming from that guy who had that funky website? Do you

think he gave some of us a virus?

To answer your questions.......

A) How many different types of dwarfisms are there?

Are there more than 100?

Yes there are over 150 types of dwarfism diagnosed.

LPA keeps a record of 140 types of short stature

diagnoses today. Last year LPA had 120 dwarf types

on record. The Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man

(OMIM) organization has a large list (875) of possible

short stature diagnosis.

What is the average height of an adult with Dio?

" Dio " = Diastrophic Dysplasia?

The shortest person with Diastrophic Dysplasia we

have on record is 2' 5 " , & the tallest is 4' 11 " . The

average adult height is 3' 10 " . Not all of our members

list their height in their membership applications, so

their may be those who are smaller or taller, and the

average may shift when data is changed.

C) On the LPA site is states that 1/100,000 births result in both

Dio and SED? Is that correct?

I believe the LPA web site states:

1. Achondroplasia (one per 14,000 births).

2. SED (one per 95,000 births).

3. Diastrophic dysplasia (one per 110,000 births).

D) Does anyone know where I can get pictures of

dwarfs on the net?

Most photos of Little People are personal photos and

may even have a copy write. If you are a person of

short stature, then you may wish to use your own

personal photos for your project.
