The Clinton Administration has beaten back a great deal of opposition by special interest groups that wanted to " water down " out current protections. Take for example the ATM height issues we are facing. As for the family leave act that is true fact. The ADA laws as they currently stand gave me added protection while I was on medical leave for 3 months. All dwarfs have protection from it. I supported Every President that supported ADA. But if I'm not mistaken The ADA was finally adopted (watered down) by then president Bush. This isn't Propaganda. This is discussion that serves LP's interest more so than " Meat loaf Surprise "
Guest guest
I am not a dwarf, but I play one on TV... oops that is wrong! I must start over! I am not a dwarf but I am the grandmother of 3 1/2 year old the " Terrific Tasmanian! " I am disabled and so I was a great supporter of and had a great interest in the original ADA bill for myself and the newer " upgrades " for (everyone else too, which goes without saying!) Having said that I MUST correct you and give credit where it is due! It was a democrat who initiated the bill and democratic majority in the house and senate who sent it to the White House for signature! Bush signed the bill into law but had he vetoed it there would have been a majority vote which would have over turned his veto! He knew that! ADA was NOT a plan of Bush! Not that it really matters as long as it got passed, right? <big grin> One thing I would like to have (part of my wish list) is automated door openers (or at least the blue square ones) on all public buildings AND especially hospitals and restrooms! It is great to have them handicapped accessible but if there is noone to open the door for us as we go both in and out you can sit there for what seems like an eternity. Especially if you " gotta go " really bad! The ATMs do not affect me personally cause I believe if shopkeepers will not take a check it is a sign from God that I really don't need it anyway. Besides I hate having to pay to use my own money! But for you who use them I support the bill. Or did It pass already? I do know I circulated, signed and sent a petition! My memory is going! Man getting old is ONLY a bit better than the alternative! Have a good one! ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Learn From Yesterday, Live This Day, Dream of Tomorrow.
