Guest guest
I live in the Heart of Texas and I have not had that problem. My husband and I work in pairs. He will just run with our daughter and put her on the ride. I will handle the attendant. I hand him a signed letter of responsibility and the tickets. I have not had a problem yet. I have, however gotten some pretty terrible looks from the other parents that think I am putting my BABY on the ride. But as I usually say,@##%@#@ on them. Just my two cents worth. a
Guest guest
This happened to us here in Oregon. I got so mad, I refused to go back ever again~ whether or not Amy reaches the height requirement! I don't know how to stop that sort of treatment. I don't really think it's discrimination~ just ignorance on the carney's part! Some things in life are just not fair, and this happpens to be one of them! Patty Needed Advice On Why People treat you different? > From: " Tom & Kris " <ktbruno@...> > > Hello All! > I am writing to the listserv again because I had a dilemma that was done to me.On Saturday I took my daughter to a fair that was in my town.We went there and looked around and had fun. Then she asked to go on some of the kiddy rides so I went and got some tickets. The first ride she wanted to go on was little boats in water which went slow and it was for kids.So we stood in line for about a half an hour and when it was our turn to go on the attendant said that my daughter could not go on them because she was not the height.I said i would go with her and they still refused to let her on.So I asked to speak to the manager or a person of higher authority. So the manager of the fair i spoke to and told him the situation and he said that the fair does not want to be responsible for any fatalities.I said what will happen if i am with her? They still refused.I said whatever this ride is silly anyway. So, the manager said to me that it probably would be best that my daughter not ride anything because she won't be allowed too.I went off bigtime on the guy and said " This is discrimination and I will have your job.So, I just asked for my refund of money from the tickets i bought and I left. They gave me the money back.On Monday I went to the town Hall and filed a complaint and next week I have to speak with the town mayor and the council in my town. So, i hope this will never happen to anyone. > > [Attachments have been removed from this message] > > ---------------------------
Guest guest
there is a big broohaa, here, after the county fair, in which the ride operators refused to allow a group of developmentally disabled children to go on any of the rides, despite the fact that they were all accompanied by staff members. the children had been taken to the fair in a group by the staff of several group homes. it happens across all spectrums.. sometimes life is a PITA whims Needed Advice On Why People treat you different? > > > > From: " Tom & Kris " <ktbruno@...> > > > > Hello All! > > I am writing to the listserv again because I had a dilemma that > was done to me.On Saturday I took my daughter to a fair that was in my > town.We went there and looked around and had fun. Then she asked to go on > some of the kiddy rides so I went and got some tickets. The first ride she > wanted to go on was little boats in water which went slow and it was for > kids.So we stood in line for about a half an hour and when it was our turn > to go on the attendant said that my daughter could not go on them because > she was not the height.I said i would go with her and they still refused to > let her on.So I asked to speak to the manager or a person of higher > authority. So the manager of the fair i spoke to and told him the situation > and he said that the fair does not want to be responsible for any > fatalities.I said what will happen if i am with her? They still refused.I > said whatever this ride is silly anyway. So, the manager said to me that it > probably would be best that my daughter not ride anything because she won't > be allowed too.I went off bigtime on the guy and said " This is > discrimination and I will have your job.So, I just asked for my refund of > money from the tickets i bought and I left. They gave me the money back.On > Monday I went to the town Hall and filed a complaint and next week I have to > speak with the town mayor and the council in my town. So, i hope this will > never happen to anyone. > > > > [Attachments have been removed from this message] > > > > ---------------------------
Guest guest
Tom and Kris, This kind of thing happens to me all the time. I'm only 3' 7 " tall and I love rolercosters and all kinds of rides. When I arrive at places such as these I asl to speek to the Manager before I ride anything. I tell them of the problems I might face wanting to ride the rides and ask can I have a written memo, that I also sign, to say I can go on the rides. It also says I will not hold the place responsible if I'm hurt. I studied physics and structural engineering so I do have some idea of what I really should not go on. A lot of rides are based on a persons centre of gravity and most audlt dwarfs have the correct CG to ride these rides. Now if one must to their legs then I know I can't ride it. It is also important the there is good saftey equipment that a shorter person can use. Just the pull down bars are not good for me and I need seat beats and/or those " U " shaped bars you pull down over your head on really fast rides. I find it really silly that they didn't let you on the kids rides, because they are make for kids. I think it is great you are going to do something about it. Take care, Jude
Guest guest
I have questions: why? Why would you put yourself in possible danger, possibly risking even more surgery than you already had to have? I just do not get it, why??
