Guest guest
This is a long shot since this is the bay area list, but what the heck... anyone have any recommendations or info on eating gluten free in Berlin, Germany? I haven't been there since I went gluten free and I haven't really found any good resources online yet.
Guest guest
Hi Luther, I have found a number of excellent European resources for gf food in the process of looking for gf options in Italy. Check out this website, which allows you to put in your destination and then provides a list of places to eat gf: http://www.glutenfreeroads.com/en/ Also, it appears that many European pizzerias have signed on as " DS Pizza Point " pizzerias, which means they offer gf pizza. Apparently they have a sticker in the window to alert gluten intolerant customers. If you google DS Pizza Point, you'll see that one of the languages on the website is German. However, I can only get it to list the Italian pizzerias, which is good for me but useless for you. I hope this helps-- palmer@... ________________________________________ From: [ ] On Behalf Of Luther [l@...] Sent: Monday, June 07, 2010 9:53 PM Subject: [ ] Berlin, Germany? Guest guest
There is a German celiac society called Deutsche Zoeliakie Gesellschaft (DZG). They have a website where you can find some info of where to find gluten free groceries etc. It also has a card in Englisch for restaurants. http://www.dzg-online.de/english.41.0.html The hotel we stayed in last year was very accommodating to our gluten free diet. They even bought gf bread for breakfast for us. We also had most of our dinners in the hotel since we felt very comfortable eating there. I contacted them ahead of time about our dietary requests and always talked to the chef in person when ordering our food. Mercure Hotel Berlin an der Charite Invalidenstrasse 38, 10115 Berlin Mitte U6 Zinnowitzer StrasseI also found the address of a gluten free bakery in Berlin, but we never made it there.
