Guest guest
Has anyone done the capsule endoscopy procedure for viewing the upper gi tract? My wife thinks that the capsule size would " choke her to death " .
Guest guest
I’ve had it done and the capsule is nothing! The pain in the butt part is the transmitter device you wear strapped to you for 8+ hours. You wear sort of this back brace device (like a home depot employee kind of brace) and there’s this box that sticks out. The camera in the capsule transmits still images to that box every 8 seconds or something like that. I went to work with it on and threw a long sweater over me for the day. Although the few people who knew what was happening called me a Transformer for the day J. You don’t have to retrieve the capsule either when you “eliminate” it. It is flushable. You do the same prep as a endoscopy with the liquid diet beforehand. And you have to wait a few hours to eat, but you can start eating while the capsule is going on. It explained a lot for me. I was GF for 2 years when I had it done. I was feeling bad and my second upper endo showed everything was healed. The capsule, however, still showed spotty damage way down where I hadn’t healed yet. I went off dairy and a few other foods that are harder to digest when you’re still healing. - From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of terramoto1@... Guest guest
Agreed, it’s nothing. I went to work with it and we had a big laugh about it – I felt like terminator crossed with the bionic woman. What an amazing technology it is. bron From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Wallace Sent: Tuesday, June 08, 2010 9:32 AM Subject: RE: [ ] capsule endoscopy I’ve had it done and the capsule is nothing!
