Sorry I don't have any information about this place, but I do have a

question. I've heard stories of places such as this or even complete

neighborhoods/towns that are devoted solely to people of short

stature. Have any of these places panned out or are they all urban

legends? If any of them do exist, which places are they? Is there any

info as to what happened to them?

Yes, I've heard of a " Little people village " that was in

Florida....but I never found any information about that....

It does make me wonder. If these places really exist, then how come

we dont know about them? I'm sure it would be in the Media, at least

on Ripley's Believe it or Not...or something like that.

Almost makes me think that people are trying to start a conversation.

Rose,

There were at one time " villages " devoted to LP's. This was mostly

in the late 30's and early 40's and mostly in Europe. I think it was

a spinoff of a World's Fair exhibit idea. They never really panned

out. If you do a Google search for " Stella Royale " you may come

across a website that has some pics of postcards sold at one of

these villages. I used to know the url but dont have it anymore.

These places were more of an amusement than a community.

Danny,

As one that was a member of Dist. 6 back in the 70's, I remember what

your talking of. Mike Haggan and Steve Barbiar were working in a bar that

was noted for having Dwarfs working behind the bar with a raised floor to

elevate them to the average height of the customers. Well they went out on

their own and supposedly opened up a bar of their own, I didn't know the

name of it, but what you described sounds exactly like their place. So track

down either Mike or Steve and you'll have the entire story behind the bar,

and as far as I know, it probably still exists. Good Luck Danny.

Yes there was a bar in Chicago called 'The Midgets Club' during the

60's and 70's. It was on the south side- in Marquette Park to be

exact, on 63rd Street between Kedzie and Pulaski streets. It was

owned by Parnell and Ellen St Aubin (sp?).

I remember clearly because my parents would go there and meet with

other fellow Dist 6 LPAers. LP kids were allowed in with their

parents, this is why I remember. Whatever happened to Parnell and

Ellen I do not know. The bar was kitchen table height and

instead of bar stools there were kitchen sized chairs.

There's another word you should become comfortable with: respect.

Just because I may hear a black person use the N word, doesn't mean that a

majority of blacks are comfortable with it, or that I should use it. Out of

respect for them, it is not a word that is used in the common vernacular.

Even if you don't respect yourself, maybe you could show a some respect for

other little people, and try to curb your use of the M word.
