Guest guest
Wow, I really appreciate all your ideas and experiences with driver training, thank you so much. We already have Mia's car, (a Grand Am) which she practices on, and my husband has installed the pedal extenders for her. Mia doesn't think that at this point she can remove and install her own pedal extenders on various vehicles, and I would want to make sure that they were properly installed. As far as the larger picture, I feel if the district provides vehicles for students then they should provide vehicles for students, ALL students, there are many other students in our district with special needs who can use the car. No, Mia doesn't need hand controls, but she does need the behind the wheel instruction, so if it has to be hand controls so be it. A special thanks to Ruth Ricker who sent the 504 info. The head of student services, who I mentioned in my first post, fought us tooth and nail over a 504 issue two years ago. She does not like the paperwork that goes with a 504!
