Guest guest
I find if I drink a lot of water, put a heating pad on my stomach, and do a lot of walking for three days after getting glutened helps me the most. I have been GF for only two years and have been glutened four times in the two years, each time was dramatically less intense. I hope his symptoms are mild!On Jul 4, 2010, at 7:45 PM, karen mcdonald wrote:Hello all,I have a question. My son (10 yr ) just ate a hot dog on a non gluten free roll he thought it was a gf roll. Guest guest
I know it doesn’t help for this time around, but what I’ve found works best under circumstances like this is to (as gross as it sounds) force yourself (or, I guess in this case, him) to throw up until his stomach is empty, the moment you realize it happened. From what I have read, 70% of your digestion happens in the first 30 minutes. So if you can get to it in the first few minutes (assuming you realize it within 20-30 minutes), throwing up most of what he ate WILL lessen the symptoms. This has worked for me in the past. Bear in mind though, the stomach needs to be EMPTIED. Completely. Fingers and their nails can be hard on the back of the throat, so the handle of a spoon or bread life can be useful. I know it is not the most pleasant way to handle this, but it has kept me from having major symptoms. I know within 10 minutes, and I know it HARD, and for DAYS (weeks, technically, on a low level, but the real brutal stuff last for about three days for me). Last time I unthinkingly ate a bite of my son’s chicken, then realized it was breaded, I used this technique, and I was (for the most part) fine the next day. A little run down, a little achy, but none of the can’t-be-more-than-20-feet-from-a-bathroom-clutching-at-my-stomach kind of symptoms. Also, I recall someone on the list mentioning Bromelain - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bromelain - as a way of coping with the glutenenings. Make sure you get the high powered stuff. I have used it for other inflammations, but not for this yet Good luck, and I hope his symptoms aren’t too bad… From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of karen mcdonald Sent: Sunday, July 04, 2010 7:46 PM Subject: [ ] Ate a hot dog roll.
