Guest guest
I for one am getting really fed up with the holier than thou attitude of more than a few people on this list. I am particularly bothered by those who seem to think they are so righteous as to single handedly define the moral standards of this group! I'm not bothered by anyone's sexual orientation or religious preferences and don't believe ANYONE has the right to judge others for their beliefs, especially the religious extremists. Almost every religion I have ever studied teaches that it is not our place to judge. What ever makes you happy is just fine with me, so long as you are not hurting others, which many of you are! I am all for freedom of choice, speech and religion. However, I am against letting YOUR beliefs be an excuse to infringe upon the rights of others. So get off your high horses, show some respect and embrace the differences that make this world so wonderful! I don't think there is ANY subject that could not be discussed openly on this list if we would all just be respectful of one another's differences and opinions. So rather than banning people or topics from this list, I propose that a set of ethical social standards (rather than moral) be agreed upon as a group and enforced. By banning certain behavior like swearing or being judgmental and blatantly offensive we as a group can overcome and learn to accept our differences. Clearly Hillary could be more tactful in her approach but I personally find truth in some of her opinions and I don't believe she should be banned from the list, at least not if she would agree to practice some netiquette. Furthermore I think we as a support group are doing a poor job of " being there " for someone who clearly would benefit from another perspective and is obviously crying out for it. A couple of definitions FYI: Morals n : motivation based on ideas of right and wrong Ethics n : rules of practice in respect to a single class of human actions; as in... political or social ethics; medical ethics; or in this case Netethics. One point I'm trying to make above is that you and I can have separate moral IDEAS and yet accept a common set of ethics and thus avoid offending one another. I believe this approach would make a huge difference to the overall quality and value of this list not to mention how it would change the perception, of us as a group, formed by on lookers. I respect your opinion so please don't be disrespectful to me for having one different than yours! -- Nick Koonce
