Guest guest
Dear J: I've been told that I have severe esophageal reflux, but not gastritis. I have irritable colon, too. It's possible it could be a combination of both. It was unlike any pain I've had before in that it was in the middle and radiated left and up into my neck and to the back. Guest guest
Dear J: I worried that the pain that I was having was cardiac, too. That's one of the main reasons that I went ahead and went to the ER. They did a EKG and a CT scan of my lungs and upper chest (also abdominal). They were both OK (other than a messed up liver which they already knew about). Kathy (AIH) Seattle area
Guest guest
Hazelpone, I suffered from gastritis off and on for a long time and the only thing I could eat without a problem was bananas. I don't know why that was, but bananas filled me up and soothed my stomach. So going on a fruit die may be a good idea. I ate bananas until my insides settled down and then I could eat again, introduced things slowly. I had found that some of my food allergies triggered some of my gastritis episodes so it is important to find what foods don't agree with you and avoid them like the plague. Have you tried an elimination diet? If not this time would be good time to do it. As you feel better, introduce just one food at a time for about 3 days before adding another food to your diet. You should be able to tell what to stay away from. Also the food you add should be 1 whole food, not a packaged food with lots of ingredients in it. This would confuse the daylights out of you. Guest guest
Liz, Thank you for the inf. We are on the same train of thought. I believe that after a period of time on just fruit, I will be able to reintroduce the foods one by one just like you said. Yes I do know how to do an elimination diet but was never able to be disciplined until I realized that fruit was the best way for me to clear up the confusion (if you know what I mean). So I will post and let you know how it goes. Guest guest
Hi Becki: Sorry to hear has to go back to the injections. Can you use EMLA cream? Hi Helen, hates MTX injections because it burns.Enbrel is just cold so I leave it out 20-30 minuites. Don't worry about the MTX and Dr.Hummall telling us to toss after 1 month. When started 7.5mg almost 3 yrs ago Dr.Lawton(head rheumy) said it was ok and a few members along the way have been told the same. I am sorry but I giggled about the 30-45 secs to give Nick his MTX.It is just 7.5mg or .3mls?I can tell you this. Two nurses taught me for 3 months and 1 was real slow and even pulled back the plunger to check for blood. The other was in and out.I am in and out.The only trouble was when got the whole syringe full.My hand was barely big enough to reach the plunger. Helen,You are doing great!!!! It will get easier as the weeks go by.Right now you are a mommy giving your baby a shot.As you get more comfortable and deal with some resistance(hopefuly not)you somehow put the mommy/child behind you and become nurse/patiant.It's real hard when that happens but you become stronger and cope.So will Nick, but he will probably go through phases. Give yourself a pat on the back. You realy are doing great.Like I said someone else gave his weekly shot for 3 months. Then I tortured 2 oranges with water until they exploded. I dread breaking the news to my little guy.Bribery is in order for sure,a trip to Baskin Robbins will work I hope. Guest guest
Becki - I am sorry to hear that you have to go back to the shots. No fun. I hope won't be too devestated by this setback. The whole shelf life on the MTX is a mystery to me. Our pharmacy gave us one bottle for four treatments and never said anthing about keeping it in the fridge. Hi Helen, is still getting some tummy aches. We can add tums for the pain.He isn't getting them as often though. The hives are staying away I guess.I stick to his benadryl schedule as far as am/pm and 30 muinites before a shot. As far as the Enbrel goes.I have been speaking with a lady from Amgen. It has taken a while because they have never done this before.Today UPS is bringing me everything I need to ship it to Cali with prepaid over night postage. They are also sending two vials of Enbrel to our pharmacy to replace the two we are shipping to them. Guest guest
I was diagnosed with Lyme in 2000-01, but we believe I've had it my whole life, due to my mom having it. But when you find out if Gastritis or inflamed stomach is a side effect or co-infection or whatever dealing with Lyme let me know, because I've been having stomach problems galore for the past year, but I also have Epilepsy Seizures, which some of my medications might be causing my problems but MY GI Doctor has done 2 Upper Gastrointestional Endoscopies (UGI), 2 Colonoscopies (LGI) and everything has came back fine, he finally placed me on nexium, 40mgs a day, and it helps a little bit but I still have server heartburn a night to the point that I've thought I was having a heart attack and I have those times that I get that sticky feeling in the back of the throat, and burning sensation, so I have raised the actual head of the bed up about 6 inches higher then the foot of the bed, so the acid in the stomach doesn't erode into my esophagus. But please if you find out anything let me know, my doctor (GI Doc) is looking into me having GERD, or Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), since he didn't see any ulcers when he pulled the biopsies through the UGIs and the LGIs _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of fschwartz613 Sent: Saturday, September 09, 2006 11:34 PM Subject: [ ] Gastritis Is it possible to have an inflamed stomach as one of the consequences of Lyme Disease? Guest guest
You absolutly can develope stomach issues as a result of the bacteria and/or the antibiotics. This is a very common lyme connection. It can come out as IBS, colitis, or other inflamations. I personally have had four serious IBS flare ups and one colitis. Twice serious enough to end up in the ER, very painful. Never had any stomach problems before lyme. When I had my first colonoscophy, the Dr mentioned my intestines were moderatly inflamed. > > Is it possible to have an inflamed stomach as one of the consequences > of Lyme Disease? > > Also, does anyone know of a good Lyme disease doctor in New York City? > > Thank you. >

The symptoms of low stomach acid and high stomach acid are exactly the same, so that's why doctors get it totally wrong. Taking 1-2 tbls of sauerkraut with every meal also helps stabilize stomach acid. That is because it raises stomach acid when it is too low, and it also lowers stomach acid when it is too high. I call sauerkraut " nature's miracle stomach acid adjuster. " Bee
Guest guest
Hi there, I've been sick, nauseated and weak and belching and dark stools, etc. Of course I could have been exposed to gluten, but I'm beginning to wonder if I don't have gastritis. And it sounds like it's pretty common. Has anyone been diagnosed with it and, if so, how were they diagnosed? By what kind of doctor, etc., and through a test, etc? thanks!
