Guest guest
It dawned on me a couple of days ago that lp's actually have the upper hand when they are meeting someone in public for the first time. Average people will be somewhat shocked to see or meet you, but you have daily contact with a tall person. You know how you will react to them, they don't know what they will say! You can actually play a big part in how they will respond to you! Patty Re: Dwarf or M ? > lee, > Great response. > Some people really do have midget minds. Guest guest
There is another train of thought here....When my parents were my age no one thought of the term " midget " as being offensive. My mom knew an LP couple from vaudville tmes who were celebrities around here and I remember her talkigna bout the " midgets " . Were she alive today she woudl understand WHY midget is offensive but back then......To them it was simply descriptive. Terminology has evolved...like the use of " black " for " negro " , african american for black. To me its more learning to listen to how its being used and who its coming from. There are plenty of mental midgets out there (my inlaws especially, right FRED?) but a lot of well meaning folks who simply dont know any better. Soem of us are still int hat mentality of thought the way we attack each other for havign positions that dont agree with our own views. Common sense and compassion is what is called for here. Its what we expect from others so why not be more willing to give it? Apryl
