Guest guest
Some supliments that may help with digestion: Bromelain (pineapple-based enzyme that aids digestion). Probiotics: any probiotic will help, but there are some probiotics that are aimed specifically at gluten, such as DigestMore, Glutenflam or Glutenzyme. These may help somewhat with the intestinal symptoms. Beyond that, I have had some success with homeopathic remedies for non-digestive symptoms. I recommend seeing a homeopath for this rather than trying to figure it out yourself. To promote healing the intestinal damage, I would suggest giving him a few days of rest (I know how hard that is with a 10-year-old; this may be the time to park him on the couch with a batch of videos) and a much nutritious, easy-to-digest foods as you can convince him to eat (make sure fruits and vegetables are cooked to aid digestion). Let him be the guide for how long he needs to rest (you may need to carefully observe him to determine this rather than asking if he is one of those kids who hates resting). Avoid stress, which will take nutrients away from the healing process. I remember with Merrick (my son) was about that age, after a potluck he piped up with the question, “Those brownies were gluten-free, weren’t they?” Of course, they weren’t. Most of the time he is very compliant with the diet (knows the results all too well), but I think sometimes temptation leads to forgetfulness. Good luck and feel free to ask more specific questions if necessary. Pam Newbury From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of karen mcdonald Sent: Sunday, July 04, 2010 7:46 PM Subject: [ ] Ate a hot dog roll.
