pf chang's?

Alison,

I have eaten there twice with no problem.

(And I am SUPER sensitive).

As far as the GI issues, it depends on the

person. I get the GI issues BAD, and for three days straight, with mild GI

issues for a few weeks after a glutening. You may find, as I did, the longer

you are GF, the worse the GI symptoms get.

FYI, the BEST thing I have found for a

glutening is KeVita. It is a probiotic drink that can be found at Whole Foods

(or Rainbow) – usually near the kombucha. I get the ginger lemon flavor

because I know ginger is good for the digestive system, and I figure after a

glutening I can use all the help I can get!

hey,

i'm just curious if anyone has successfully eaten at pf chang's without getting

sick? i'm going to one in LA this weekend with my family and i'm nervous

because i was glutened last weekend at in n out in santa rosa and i asked all the appropriate

questions, thought it was safe. spent hours in the bathroom and still having GI

issues (is that normal?!)... that was the first time i've ever had severe GI

issues after being glutened, usually just get a migraine as far as i can tell,

but i'm still new at being gluten-free.

thanks!

I always get the sauce packets on the side

and squeeze it in myself.

Dang. Now I want In-N-Out…

Hey everybody -

I've always had luck at PF Chang's. In N Out puts the sauce on with a

brush that also touches the bread, so ask them to put your sauce on from the

squeeze bottle (they keep it for putting sauce on fries) or ask for no sauce

- they also have mustard & ketchup in squeeze bottles.

Hi Alison,

I've had great experiences at the Emeryville P.F. Chang's as well as one in Seattle. But then

I've always eaten safely at In'n'Out, too.

So sorry you got glutened. Bummer.

I share the migraine reaction, by the way.

I hope it goes okay--

I was eating at PF Chang’s fairly often until Dr. Gray at Stanford suggested I reconsider as some of his patients were getting gluten hits from eating there. Fortunately or unfortunately, I don’t have an immediate or acute reaction to getting glutened but because my antibody #’s were still quite elevated after going gluten free for a number of months, I decided to stop eating at PF Changs altogether.

Mark, I’m wondering if he meant specifically the PF Chang’s

in Palo Alto? I do remember that some time ago (over a year ago) we had a

discussion on this list about PF Chang’s that centered on problems at the

Palo Alto restaurant; at that time several people had bad experiences while others

had eaten there without a problem. It seemed as though some cooks were

more careful or better trained than others.

None of the messages in the current discussion specifically mention

the Palo Alto PF Chang’s. I’m wondering if anyone has eaten

at the Palo Alto PF Chang’s recently (within the last 4 months or so) and

what their experience was?

We ordered food to go at Pf changs, when they brought it to the

counter it was regular. My daughter thought to double check. They gave us the

regular food for free…still…..
